Who Runs The Show? Your Phone Or You?
Posted by: Peter Murphy on Oct 23 2008 - 22 views
It’s a Windows Mobile phone right, it makes phone calls, lets you email, browse the web, sync important information with your PC and generally should do anything [well almost] that your PC does for you in a much more compact package. It’s not a net book though, even if it connects to the web. How many of us out there have turned to third party programs to help us keep our Windows Mobile devices running smoothly?
Programs like Pocket Mechanic and MemMaid, have been stalwarts in the war on Windows Mobile’s quirkiest operation. Both of these programs are actually advanced registry editors for the Windows Mobile OS with a UI that is so user friendly that you don’t even know that you are doing it. I could also cite various freeware applications here that I use, but the point of the post is to point you to a great Tutorial for some registry editing of your Windows mobile device, that may debunk, and remove the taboo that your OS runs you.
HobbesIsReal over at WMExperts, has posted what amounts to, a way to really optimize your device with a few well selected manual registry edits. His tutorial is simple and easy to follow, and explains the advantages of the edits really well. In a way this sort of info circumnavigates third party apps, and lets you take control of your device manually. All in all it offers you an interesting alternative, and maybe a deeper understanding of the OS on your device.
Well worth a look.

The Treo Pro gets more real!

I held off posting on this yesterday because there really wasn’t a whole lot of what I would call “real” pictures… just some screenshots of a show up on the Palm website. But, when you get actual in the flesh photos of a device - well that sort of points to this being a reality. Hit the link below for all the details and a boatload of more pictures!! Two things are coming to mind - HOT! and holy cr@p scratch magnet.
400Mhz CPU , but snappy response 256MB ROM, 128MB RAM! (Other reports show βIn use: 43.96mb, Free 57.72mb) 320*320 screen GPS Full Tri-band 3G, Quad-band GSM 2 Megapixel camera microUSB connector! 3.5mm Earphone connector 1500mah battery (this is looking like it might actually be true?)”
