Contest - Splash Before School

Posted by: tjchan on Jul 29 2008 - 73 views

Hmm, it appears to be Tuesday again.  Well, it certainly still is Monday somewhere around the world still, so I guess I can still call this Monday.  =)

This week, courtesy of SplashData comes a contest that is just slides of fun! We already know that SplashData makes fine programs such as SplashID and SplashMoney, but did you know that they ported their programs to Apple’s iPhone? No?  Well, now you do and you have no excuse not to load these great apps onto your iPhone or Touch.  Right-o! Let’s get our feet wet as to how to enter this contest.

1) The usual, post in this thread. 1 entry
2) Answer the question: “What time does SplashNews synchronize by defaut?” 2 additional entries
3) Answer the question: “What is your favorite waterpark?” 1 additional entry
4) Answer the question: “Where is Summit Plummit?” 1 additional entry

Contest ends on Saturday, August 2, 2008 @ 8am CST

3 winners will be selected with choices of SplashMoney, Splash Photo, SplashID, Splash Notes, Splash ID, Splash Shopper, and Snap.

By entering this contest, you authorize Just Another Mobile Monday, and its representatives, to provide your personal information (such as, but not limited to your name and email address) to the sponsors of this contest should you be selected as a winner. Your personal information will not be sold by Just Another Mobile Monday, or otherwise retained for any purpose except that described herein.

Samsung Omnia, pretty slick…

Posted by: Peter Murphy on Jul 26 2008 - 75 views

Samsung’s latest offering, the Omnia, really appeals to me. It’s packing Windows Mobile 6.1 professional, a 3.2” display, comes in 8 or 16 Gb flavours, and still has an added micro SDHC slot.

image I’m salivating at the thought of this phone, another of the  Black Slabs arriving on the market at the  moment. It’s all a little Space Odyssey ‘esque. Though this review over at PhoneArena didn’t do anything to dampen my thoughts of getting a converged device.

Have a look at the review, it’s really in depth, and if your a WM devotee, it might be your next phone.

AT&T brings “Ugly” to the BlackJack II

Yes - I said Ugly. Oh … wait. That Ocean Blue isn’t quite ugly enough for you? Here … have some Pepto Pink.

So … feeling a little nausea setting in? I know I am. Having owned the original BlackJack and having heavily considered a red Blackjack II this new color scheme quite frankly horrifies me. I’m not sure who at Samsung came up with the idea of taking a very slick, sleek and sexy device and teaming it up with a Hello Kitty style color scheme … but they need a good smack in the back of the head to set themselves right again. I just can’t even begin to fathom how this can be seen as a good decision, especially with the white face. Here’s to hoping that when they hit the shelves (soon-ish at $99 w/ 2 year contract) they look a heck of a lot better in person then they do in the photos. Oh … and of course they’ll come with WinMo 6.1 although I don’t think that really is going to help with the nausea.

First Look: Opera Mobile Internet Browser 9.5 Beta 1

Posted by: dgoldring on Jul 17 2008 - 188 views

We have all known it was coming for months.  It has been heralded as the best thing to happen to Windows Mobile since…well, since Windows Mobile.  In their words, it is a program which, “completely reinvents the web browser on mobile phones.”  No, we are not talking about Safari or the iPhone.  This is the Opera Mobile Browser 9.5 (beta 1).  There has been quite a bit of hype surrounding this program, and you all know what that means: there is a lot of room for excitement, and also a lot of room for disappointment.  Let’s take a closer look and see how it fared.

Quick Look: Yahoo Go 3

Posted by: dgoldring on Jul 02 2008 - 561 views

The dust has settled, and Yahoo is out to prove that it doesn’t need Microsoft, Google, or anyone else in order to maintain its Internet dominance…er…level of mediocrity.  I mean, let’s face it, Yahoo just does not carry the same weight it once did.  But that is not to say Yahoo does not still have any winners in its arsenal.  In fact, the free Yahoo! Go has proven itself, in the past, to be an outstanding all-in-one Internet resource.  This latest version sees some significant changes to the interface as well as some wild customization options.  Let’s take a closer look.

Astraware: The Bombs Bursting In Air Can Mean Only One Thing…FREE STUFF!

Posted by: dgoldring on Jul 01 2008 - 168 views

July Fourth weekend is nearly upon us here in the United States.  And then can mean only one thing.  It is time for the bombs bursting in air and the rockets red glare to give proof in the night that both of your drunken hands are still there.  Yup, that’s right…time for fireworks.

If you are like me, though, maybe you have small kids.  And maybe they don’t like bright flashing lights, and loud booming sounds.  Or, maybe you just don’t particularly like to let them play with fire and explosives.  Regardless, Astraware has a great application for you.

Just in time for the Fourth of July, they have released an updated version of their popular Astraware Fireworks application.  Astraware fireworks is available free for Palm OS, Windows Mobile, and Windows Mobile Smartphone.  Just head over to Astraware and download your copy today.

image The good tidings don’t stop there, however.  Astraware also announced today the release of their classic game (based on the PC game by Digital-Eel) Big Box of Blocks for S60 phones.  In order to celebrate the release, Astraware Club Members can download Big Box of Blocks for a limited time absolutely free for Palm OS, Windows Mobile, Windows Mobile Smartphone, or S60.  Not a club member yet?  Hurry over here to sign up, and then download the game from Astraware’s site.
