Vito Task2gather: Now Available on your iPhone

Not long ago, I told you about Vito’s fantastic new task manager Task2Gather.  What I really liked about Task2Gather was that it exists entirely online, in what we like to call The Cloud.  this means that your tasks are immediately available from any computer.  all you need to do is login and you are ready to go.

One of the only drawbacks I have found in my use of Task2Gather is that there has been no way to access your data or sync your tasks with your mobile device.  All of that is about to change, however.  Yesterday, Vito announced the release of Task2gather for iPhone and iPod Touch, thus marking Vito Technology’s first foray into the iPhone App Store.

Untethered: Managing Tasks With Toodledo

I first learned of Toodledo about a year ago, when I was looking for a better way to manage my tasks.  Until then, I had been using MS Outlook.  That worked fine, but had a significant disadvantage.  There was no way to modify your tasks when away from your main computer.  Everything was stored locally.  The more mobile I was becoming, the more of a problem this single computer approach was going to be.  So, off I set to find a solution in the sky…well, really in the Cloud.  What I found was one of the finest task managers I had ever used: Toodledo.

Vito Releases Task2Gather Web Application. Windows Mobile and iPhone Apps to Follow Soon

Several weeks ago, I wrote about the technology preview of a new web based task manager, Task2Gather, from Vito Technology/iWindows Mobile.  Today, Vito has announced the official release of their new application, and it looks even better than what I saw in the technology preview. 

Task2Gather is a Cloud based application, meaning that all of the information you input will be stored online, not on your computer.  Unlike most web-based task managers, Task2Gather is not laid out with a traditional list of tasks.  Instead, it utilizes a hierarchical, tree-based list of tasks.  In other words, you will organize your tasks by project or category, meaning similar tasks will be grouped together.

Task2 Gather was designed around several guiding principles, including: simplicity, high performance, sharing, flexibility and mobility. The result is a completely unique task manager, which can be accessed from any computer, anywhere in the world.

Review: Winterface

For roughly the past year, there has been a raging debate between iPhone users and Windows Mobile users about which platform is better.  In my opinion, there are pros and cons of both, however, I have been extremely interested in watching the debate rage ever forward.  The most fascinating offshoot to me is the way in which the mere presence of the iPhone has forced Windows Mobile and Windows Mobile developers to make drastic changes and improvements, almost overnight.  I am convinced that without the iPhone, there would be no HTC Touch Pro, and the upcoming release of Windows Mobile 7 would be significantly different.

Similarly, without the iPhone, it is highly unlikely that the growing mobile shell genre would have taken off the way it did.  Programs like Spb Mobile Shell, PointUI, and others, now completely replace the outdated and outmoded Today Screen interface with a finger-friendly interface which completely takes over your device, giving you access to all of your necessary applications and information.  The latest offering in this rapidly rowing genre comes from Vito Technology’s iWindows Mobile line.  Vito has done an amazing job of implementing the lessons of the iPhone with the other products in the iWindows Mobile line.

Vito Technologies Announces Winterface

No, Vito has not figured out a way to control the weather and freeze the world in an eternal winter snowstorm.  Winterface is actually their latest Windows Mobile offering, and it looks fantastic.  Winterface, as our astute colleague, Ragart, noted, actually stands for Windows Interface…Winterface.  But that still does not answer my question, which was what the heck is this thing.  I mean, is my device going to start hurling snowballs if I load it?  The answer…probably not.

Winterface is actually a “highly customizable” shell, interface, launcher, and task manager, which is designed to improve your Windows Mobile interface.  According to the press release:

As a shell Winterface removes the necessity to turn to default Windows Mobile interface: Today screen and Start menu. Winterface opens instantly whenever users draw a simple gesture on the screen.  It allows users to have as many screens as they need and put on them icons for applications, settings and contacts. The screens are flipped through with sliding finger gestures. The icons for such applications as phone, sms, email, battery, clock, calendar, memory, etc. - all show relevant information and thus replace a number of Today plug-ins.

As a launcher Winterface features one tap launch of any installed applications and settings. A tap on a contact icon opens a menu with contact details from where you can call, send text message, email, browse URL, etc.

As a task manager Winterface lets you easily switch between running applications. A fixed icon on the first screen lets users see running programs, switch between them or close them.

It is very convenient to organize icons on screens by a certain topic. Users can set up a screen with favorite contacts, a screen with most used applications, a screen with icons-indicators (battery, memory, calendar, clock, etc.), and so on, as far as their fantasy goes! Icons are easily moved on the screen and between screens by drag’n'drop gestures.
