Clinton Fitch Goes Online With Spb Online
Posted by: dgoldring on Oct 28 2008 - 6 views
Not long ago, our very own Tjchan took a hard look at Spb Online, and found a lot to like there. But what do others think of this fine program? Well, our good friend, Clinton Fitch, has just posted his review of the program over at Clinton Fitch(dot)com.
If you are not familiar with it, Spb Online is an online experience; allowing you to watch TV, listen to music, read the news, purchase software, play games, and more…all from the comfort of your Windows Mobile device.
Clinton took a thorough look at Spb’s latest offering and found:
If you look at Spb Online as a whole you can see that it is a fantastic concept that is well executed by the Spb team. There are some rough edges for sure, especially around the News function but it is workable. The ability to buy securely online from the application itself is fantastic and makes the buying experience quick, simple and fun. The automatic updating of the application over the air is another nice feature and one that frankly every developer should figure out how to do. Spb Online is a definate winner and I can’t wait to see how this application continues to grow.
Check out the full review, with tons of screen shots, at Clinton Fitch(dot)com. And head over to the JAMM Store where you can download your very own copy of Spb Online, directly to your device.

Review: Spb Online

Spb Online is a program that offers users an online experience by linking them to all sources of information - from live streaming video and audio, to RSS news feeds and weather, Spb Online is perfect for those getting started into the Windows Mobile experience. Granted there are many programs out there that do similar things, but Spb has combined some of the best tools in a sleek package with transitions and touch drag interface that even mimics the iPhone. It even has online games (which can be purchased separately beginning today)! Let’s dig in and see if Spb Online is all that it claims to be.

Toshiba+Spb Software = ???
Posted by: dgoldring on Jun 24 2008 - 316 views
What do you get when you cross a Toshiba Windows Mobile Professional phone with preloaded Spb software? Well, according to the picture on top, it is an iPhone killin’ machine. Well, I actually have no idea whether it will have any effect on the iPhone market or not. But, the new Toshiba Portege G810 is one heck of a slick looking phone. In addition to all of your Windows Mobile favorites, it also comes preloaded with special versions of some of your favorite Spb software, including:
- Spb Mobile Shell-based Toshiba Touch Interface
- a customized version of Spb Full Screen Keyboard
- the Spb Pocket Plus smart scrolling component
- and many other Windows Mobile customization enhancements.
I don’t know whether this phone will be an iPhone killer, but one thing is for sure, this is NOT your father’s Windows Mobile phone. When I look at this, the Samsung Omnia, the Sony Xperia, and the new HTC Touch phones, I am really impressed by the creativity that has gone into the interfaces. I have no idea what the future hold for Windows Mobile, but I think we might have some fun finding out if this latest round of phones has anything to say about it.
For all of the details on this latest slick rendition of a Windows Mobile phone, check it out on Toshiba’s website. Then head over to Spb’s website to learn more about the special customized software that comes preloaded on the phone.
