QOTD: Has your mobile device turned you into a digital photographer?

Question of the Day:  Has your mobile device turned you into a digital photographer?

I’m going to make an assumption here:  Just about every mobile phone in the world that is relatively modern has a digital camera built in.  Some of these are pretty decent in quality.  My HTC Touch Pro has a 3 MP camera that does a decent job.  It includes a LED flash, focus capabilities and a few basic options for manipulating the images as they are captured.

I’m going to make another assumption here:  The amount of people carrying mobile phones has skyrocketed in the last 5 years.  We could then speculate that a significant percent of the world’s population, that is the cell phone carrying population, anyways, has a digital camera with them at all times.

As a result of this, has the integration of digital cameras into cell phones spawned a new generation of photographers, able to capture candids quickly and in more situations that ever before?  Are we now able to document the world as we live in it, photographing the serene, the inspiring, the gritty, the horrible?

Has your mobile device turned you into a digital photographer, an Ansel Adams in training that is documenting aspects of the world and your day as never before?  Hit the comments below and let us know your thoughts!

Will You Switch to Sprint for a Pre?

When the iPhone first arrived, AT&T saw quite the jump of subscribers since people couldn’t wait to get their hands on the new drool worthy device.  The same thing happened again when iPhone 3G arrived on the scene.  So, it got me wondering, will people be willing to jump aboard the Sprint train to be one of the first with the Palm Pre?  Sprint has been averaging losing over a million subscribers every quarter.  They really need to pull in new people.  Personally, I am going to wait.  First, the exclusive period for the Pre is 6 months.  If it debuts around July, I am hoping we see it at Verizon by January 1, 2010.  I have been happy with the Verizon network, and since the majority of my family and friends are on Verizon, I save a lot of minutes.  As much as I would absolutely LOVE to have a Pre, other than the device itself, there is no incentive.  Obviously, Sprint is hoping most people don’t think that’s the case.  Plus, Palm admitted that Pre is not going to be the only device with the new WebOS.  I knew that was coming.  Palm has fallen so far behind in the smartphone market, that they need to be available on all networks.  Back to my original question, are you willing to switch to Sprint for a new Palm Pre?  Leave your thoughts in the comments section.
