More “My Little Tank” News from Astraware

Posted by: Heather on Nov 18 2008 - 15 views

In case you missed yesterday’s news, Astraware released “My Little Tank” for the iPhone and iPod Touch.  Well, today, even more people get to join in the MLT party!!!  Astraware released it for S60, as well as Blackberry, for the first time today.  For Palm OS and WM users, don’t worry, you are not being left out in the cold.  MLT has been updated to include newer WM and Palm devices, and they have added 20 new levels.  That gives the game a total of 80 levels!!!  “My Little Tank” is an arcade shooter game were you play the role of a mini-tank out to defend your base while destroying enemy tanks, radar stations, and bases.  Plus, you will run into all kinds of terrain changes from snow and swamps to plains and deserts.  If you already have a registered copy of MLT, the upgrade is free.  If not, it can be purchased from Astraware for $9.99.  Its also available for the sale price of  $4.95, if you are a member of Club Astraware.  Honestly, for $4.95, I am going to go home and download this game.  I love the little strategy games, and this will be great entertainment for traveling or waiting in line during the holiday shopping season.

Posted by: Heather on Nov 17 2008 - 14 views

After a small delay, HeroCraft has released Travel Geniusfor the Palm OS, Windows Mobile, Blackberry, and Symbian.  The game tests your skills in the world of geographical trivia.  The world is becoming a smaller place every day, and this is a tool, that is not only fun, but helps you learn about exotic far away places.  It contains more than 700 questions that cover much more than simply country and capital city like we learned in grade school.   You will be tested on countries, oceans, people, famous personalities, and great inventions.  Do you think you are up to the task?   I will be receiving a copy of the game to review.  So check back to see if I am a Travel Genius, or if I will be working to see if I can even measure up to a fifth grader.

Price of Travel Genius is $15.95.  Check out their full Press Release after the jump.

Why I switched from Palm OS to Windows Mobile

Posted by: Sue on Nov 11 2008 - 134 views

In my job over at PPCTechs, I see operating systems from Windows Mobile, Palm and Symbian (Blackberry).

Bit of background for you: those of you who have called into the company - I’m the girl with the English accent. Those of you who email us with a question, I’m the one that answers the email. Those of you who send units in - I used to be the one who checks them in and sent you the email to say it’s there. Yeah, that’s me.

Phones with New Palm OS Promised by Mid-2009

Posted by: Heather on Sep 22 2008 - 37 views

Palm is promising to have new phones running its next generation OS by the middle of 2009.  Work on the operating system itself should be done by the end of this year.  All I can say is that I hope that Palm keeps their word.  We have been hearing rumors about ‘Nova’ for what seems like forever.  Although, 2 years in the tech world, is pretty close to forever.  Palm has also said that the new operating system should be backwards compatible with software currently running on their ‘Garnet’ OS.  I have always been a fan of the Palm OS.  I have a Centro now, and absolutely love it.  Its easy to use, and does not have the ‘crashing’ issues other mobile OS experience.  From a business standpoint, Palm is banking on this new OS to help keep it competitive with RIM and the iPhone.  No word yet on which carriers are interested in selling phones with the new OS.  Its still pretty early in the process.

Looks like the Palm Centro by Sprint is getting a slight overhaul - including support for location awareness in Google Maps - which by far should be worth the trouble in upgrading your firmware!

  • Improved Gmail IMAP compatibility and an updated setup wizard with the new Gmail settings
  • Updated compatibility for Google Mobile Maps My Location feature to approximate your current location – great for directions, finding nearby restaurants or business, or checking local traffic.1
  • Improved ongoing delivery of email sent to VersaMail accounts using Microsoft’s Direct Push Technology via Exchange ActiveSync
  • Bluetooth usability enhancements and updates
  • Sprint TV performance enhancements2
  • Enhanced AOL Instant Messenger performance
  • Improved performance when adding a contact using Mobile Voice Control
  • Improved email attachment handling
  • Changed default camera shutter sound to “ON.” Audible shutter “click” will be heard when taking photos
  • Allows Preferred Roaming List updates over the air

Astraware: The Bombs Bursting In Air Can Mean Only One Thing…FREE STUFF!

Posted by: dgoldring on Jul 01 2008 - 169 views

July Fourth weekend is nearly upon us here in the United States.  And then can mean only one thing.  It is time for the bombs bursting in air and the rockets red glare to give proof in the night that both of your drunken hands are still there.  Yup, that’s right…time for fireworks.

If you are like me, though, maybe you have small kids.  And maybe they don’t like bright flashing lights, and loud booming sounds.  Or, maybe you just don’t particularly like to let them play with fire and explosives.  Regardless, Astraware has a great application for you.

Just in time for the Fourth of July, they have released an updated version of their popular Astraware Fireworks application.  Astraware fireworks is available free for Palm OS, Windows Mobile, and Windows Mobile Smartphone.  Just head over to Astraware and download your copy today.

image The good tidings don’t stop there, however.  Astraware also announced today the release of their classic game (based on the PC game by Digital-Eel) Big Box of Blocks for S60 phones.  In order to celebrate the release, Astraware Club Members can download Big Box of Blocks for a limited time absolutely free for Palm OS, Windows Mobile, Windows Mobile Smartphone, or S60.  Not a club member yet?  Hurry over here to sign up, and then download the game from Astraware’s site.
