M-Edge…Protecting your Kindle 2, One Drop At A Time

IMG_4813

When I purchased my Kindle 2 last February, one of the first cases I had the chance to check out was the M-Edge jacket.  M-Edge was kind enough to send along two styles for me to look at: the Prodigy and the Platform jackets.  The two are pretty much identical, except that the prodigy opens horizontally, and the Platform opens vertically.  So, we can take a look at the two cases from M-Edge together.

Would You Like a FREE Kindle 2?

If you love to read, then I am sure that the Kindle 2 is on your wish list.  With a price of $350, it is definitely not an impulse buy.  It looks like you are in luck, Bitten By Books is giving away a Kindle 2 to celebrate the site’s first birthday.  Bitten By Books is a paranormal fiction review site.  Paranormal fiction features non-human characters, such as vampires, shape shifters (werewolves), ghosts, zombies, fairies, etc.  Twilight, Blade, and the Underworld series would all be examples of paranormal, or urban, fiction.  They cover a variety of authors, and the site has a ton of great reviews and interviews with authors.  Its my favorite book site, so I would highly recommend it.  For the contest, there are a variety of ways to enter.  The main question that everyone has to answer is “What would you do for a Kindle 2?”.  Each task you complete is worth a certain amount of entries.  So, head over to the site for the complete details.

Review: Noreve Case For The Amazon Kindle 2

Way back when I was still using the Dell Axim, I discovered a fantastic leather case manufacturer, called Noreve (that is French for amazing leather cases)  OK, maybe it does not really stand for that…but it should, because they make some of the best cases I have ever used for mobile devices.  Now, they have released their latest lines, which include a beautiful new line of cases for the Kindle 2.  And let me tell you, I wasted no time getting one wrapped around my Kindle 2.  Hit the jump, and we will take a look.

Just when I Was Really Enjoying My Kindle 2…

I woke up this morning to some very disappointing news from Amazon.com, the real king of all media (it was actually posted yesterday).  Well, let me back up for a minute.  One of the features I really like on the Kindle 2 is WhisperSync, which is an easy way to get content of all types onto your Kindle.  all you have to do is email the document to a special address, and it will appear on your Kindle.  Sure, it was not always formatted exactly the way you wanted, so it does not fit perfectly onto your screen.  But you know what?  You just paid ten cents per document,n so stop that whining,

Well, this is about to change May 4.  Rather than being a flat fee per document,Amazon is changing the fee structure entirely.  It will now cost fifteen cents per megabyte.  And since all costs are rounded up, that means the minimum cost will be fifteen cents per document.  So, now, you will need to reach a little deeper into your pockets the next time you want that document converted.  Fortunately, you can avoid all of this entirely by using the alternate free conversion email (username@free.kindle.com).

Hit the jump for the full press release (which also includes some information about new formats to be available for conversion).

Review: Waterfield Cases for the Amazon Kindle 2

I ran out and bought the Kindle 2 from Amazon pretty much the first second it was available.  I am absolutely in love with this device, which I reviewed last week, along with a bunch of my friends from Gear Diary.  We did not necessarily agree on everything, but there was one point we on which we reached a quick consensus: Amazon made a critical mistake by not including a case or sleeve with this fantastic new device.  Luckily, before my Kindle 2 had even arrived, I found that one of my favorite case manufacturers, Waterfield, was already on the job.

Waterfield offers three cases for the Kindle 2.  We’ll take a look at the Travel Bag a bit later.  Today, I want to take a closer look at the Slip Case and the Sleeve case.
