Resco is Preparing a Finger Friendly Version of Photo Viewer

Browsing the Resco forums late last night, I stumbled upon the news that they are preparing an updated version of their Photo Viewer program for Windows Mobile.  The main enhancement seems to be a completely new, finger friendly UI.  From the news and screenshots that they have provided, it looks like Photo Viewer is in for one great update.

Please note that a public beta isn’t yet available, but Resco is doing something kind of crazy… they’ve added a thread for users to discuss the features that you want to see included.

Check out the teaser here.

Sorry: Kindle news won’t Dwindle

Most of you would know, as would the world, just not tech aficionados that the new Kindle2 has just been released and is shipping as we speak. There’s been a lot of pacing and sitting by mail boxes as the tracking system seems to have not been able to cope with the mass distribution of this updated eReader from Amazon. Some are non plussed by the device

Some are well pleased to have it, Doug posted a childlike, joyous, Christmas morning with great presents sort of look at his new book, and today a somewhat frustrated at waiting, un-boxing over at Gear Diary from Judie, also gives us a quick look at the new Kindle.

Judie posts good impressions and a great gallery of images of the  new Kindle that you might want to take a look at.

Keep an eye out for a three pronged review of the new Kindle penned by Dan, Doug and Judie, as they share their thoughts with each other and you on this updated device!

Aussie gPhone, Design Issues

I suppose the race to produce the second Android Dream phone is on a lot of peoples minds. The Android alliance is gaining a lot of momentum, which indicates a favourable response too the OS, and in the last week we have seen a lot of handset manufacturers jump onto the bandwagon

But this device from Kogan, seems to be, well an edited image and not an actual device yet. I have asked for a review unit, but it still seems like this is a concept, and the graphics guru, Has not excited me any more, on this phone. there is no update, except for the promotional photoshop files. I wonder if this device will hit the market,

An Android phone like this could be game changing, it’s a form factor that crosses OS’s, and is readily available, but there is a feeling that this is a mock up.

Personally, the news on this Aussie Android handset, doesn’t inspire confidence,

HTC Dream… or your worst nightmare?

Now I don’t know if it’s the leopard skin background, or the fact that this is probably the  ugliest HTC device that I’ve seen in a long time, you’d have to assume that the OS makes up for it. The aforementioned specs for the Dream, let’s face it, were not super, as far as the current batch of HTC devices go.

More info has come to light, suggesting that the original quoted specs were undercooked, and the dream is empowered with 256Rom/128Ram, which would make a lot more sense.  We’ve also got a new moniker, the G1

The G1’s specs and features are still unknown but it is rumoured to sport a 528Mhz Qualcomm 7201 processor; Data kit for USB connectivity in the box; 128MB Internal RAM; 256MB Internal ROM, 1GB MicroSD card; Dedicated camera button; 3.1MP camera (no flash) 2048 x 1536; Video playback files – H.264, streaming, 3GPP, MPEG4, and Codec 3GP and a Dedicated YouTube Player.  Yes, I agree the memory is really low, but this is still a rumour so take it with a grain of salt.

All right I’m looking at this and I’m thinking, well I’m revising my thoughts, the images are bad, and actually are probably misleading. I’m taken aback by the unfamiliar design, and I’m hoping this works, it’s like a weird tilt. The T-Mobile branding and the cornucopia of comparative shots, seem to defy the possibility of a mock-up, but the dream might still be something that keeps you awake at night.
