iPhone Update, Version 2.0.2.

Posted by: Peter Murphy on Aug 19 2008 - 36 views

image  Not being an iPhone user, this update didn’t really mean much to me, until I started looking at the posts associated with the update. Hot on the heels of version 2.0.1, this point update from Apple fixes what? It seems to be a thing of bemusement and speculation. The update details seem to be

Bug Fixes

What the ? I saw this first over at Brighthand, and the description was

iPhone 2.0.2 is the second minor update released, and like its predecessor the only description given by Apple says is that it contains "Bug fixes".  Exactly what bugs are being fixed isn’t revealed.

But when Wayne over at Gear Diary posted the news, oh well check out the response from Chris, anyone noticing anything different after the update?

Post it in the comments!

Gear Diary Review: Sprint Treo 800w

Posted by: Brandon Steili on Aug 14 2008 - 27 views

I’m not going to say a whole heck of a lot on this one. First - I want one. Second - no way I’m leaving AT&T and Third … WTF took so long for this phone to finally start hitting the streets?! (Oh and still no word on a GSM version.)

1. The Palm 800w is not meant to compete with the Apple iPhone
2. The Palm 800w is not meant to replace your iPod
3. The Palm 800w is not meant to wow you with slick graphics and smexxy web browsing

However, the Palm 800w will:
1. Wow you with its amazing one-handed navigational skills and excellent keyboard
2. Allow you to be more connected that you possibly want to be, through the use of Exchange, Instant Messaging, Email, Texts, Voice, and Internet Sharing
3. Remind you of the things you like about the Windows Mobile Operating System, while providing a surprisingly stable experience

If you can get past the fact that the Treo 800w is not an iPhone and it is not trying to be an iPhone replacement, then you will find yourself enjoying all that it is capable of doing. Do I want one? Yes. But not enough to go back to Sprint…

WinMo 6.1 for Sprint Mogul, It’s Official!

Posted by: Peter Murphy on Jul 19 2008 - 98 views

Thanks to Wayne over at Gear Diary for the heads up on the Official Update to Windows Mobile 6.1 for the Mogul. I’m always looking for news like this to share with you guys. I know one person who is probably a happy camper, and spending most of his night reloading all of his apps because of the update.

Obviously there are a few new things included, like updated internet explorer, and a dedicated Task Manager.

1. Upgrades the operating system from Windows Mobile® 6.0 Professional to Windows Mobile® 6.1 Professional
2. Adds Sprint TV
3. Includes all enhancements incorporated in previous software upgrades including:

– EV-DO Rev. A functionality for faster download and upload speeds when utilizing data services wherever EV-DO Rev. A coverage is available.
– Advanced GPS functionality including the Sprint Navigation application.
- Adds a Task Manager to the Today screen for easier access and management of running programs.

Get ready, backup, and reinstall the rom, and restore, the OS  is a real upgrade!

Most of you know that, in addition to my work here at JAMM, I also write for Gear Diary, which is a fantastic site run by a woman I consider to be my personal mentor in this crazy online world, Judie Lipsett.

Gear Diary was founded in September 2006, just shy of two years ago.  And in that time they have grown in leaps and bounds.  Earlier this week, Gear Diary passed the 2 million readers mark.   In fact, as of tonight, they had hit 2,010,545 site visitors.  Amazing!  Congratulations on such fantastic growth, Gear Diary.  And here is to the next 2 million visitors!

As many of you know, I occasionally post reviews over there as well as JAMM; and Gear Diary founder, Judie Lipsett, is also a member of the JAMM team.  I also know that JAMM and Gear Diary share a number of common readers and regulars.

In what can only be described as an amazing, nay, meteoric success, Gear Diary passed the one million mark yesterday.  One million unique visitors that is.  And they are still going strong.  Considering Gear Diary was founded in September 2006 and did not start tracking visitors until December 21, 2006, that is quite an amazing accomplishment.  So, congratulations to Judie and the entire Gear Diary team for a job so well done.

Head on over to Gear Diary to check out some additional interesting statistics Gear Diary has accumulated over the last year, including the top 26 posts.  All I can say is boy does the Gear Diary community like giveaways.

Congratulations, Judie!!!
