Android Shuffle, or is it a Quick Step?
Posted by: Peter Murphy on Dec 23 2008 - 30 views
The G1 android phone was and is a ground breaker as far as introducing the new OS from Google. Well it’s not so new now, but except for new applications developed for the OS, and lots of people joining the bandwagon, there has been little movement in the development of devices with the OS on them.
So what would you say to a T-Mobile G2 device, there has been a rumour going around for a few days now, that, is rather dubious.
Although the rumour has been discredited somewhat, and given a nice bit of photochop, still the posts come, the tenacity with which the mobile community has embraced this bit of folly, is laughable, but the other information that has surfaced because of the impetus provided by this unverifiable tidbit is rather news worthy.
It may have even spurred the bevy of news that has surfaced since it became intertube fodder.

Everything You Wanted To Know About the G1
Posted by: Peter Murphy on Oct 16 2008 - 25 viewsEverything you wanted to know, and probably some stuff you would never have thought about. Mat Miller over at ZDnet blogs literally shows off every feature of the G1, in one of the most thorough device reviews I’ve ever seen
Out of the box first thoughts: I spent a couple of hours with the device in New York at the launch event so I wasn’t really surprised by the hardware of the G1. However, without the security tether attached to the device I was able to get a better feel for the device in your hand and overall construction quality.
If there’s anything you didn’t want to know about the G1 or Android OS, don’t hit up the link.

Everything’s coming up Android!
Posted by: Peter Murphy on Oct 10 2008 - 25 viewsYou’d have to admit that the introduction of a new OS like Android is exciting. The fact that it’s an open system, welcoming developers to add to it’s functionality, with seemingly no limitations, says the sky’s the limit. So eventually you would think this will be a boon both to industry and personal users. Let’s face it, it’s not going to be a Blackberry, out of the box, and there are not going to be a range of great applications available for a while till the platform proves itself, and some of the more mainstream developers who already have experience with cross platform programming, decide to wade in to the mix.
There are a few, I don’t know how many,[I’m sure I know at least one person that’s got one and can’t say] people who already are Hands on with the G1. A forum member over at Android Community, has done what may be the first public review of the G1. Again, I’m sure this person will get their wrist slapped for this.
The real news though is that other manufacturers are going to pick up the OS and build appropriate devices. Even rumours that the Touch HD, [which isn’t coming to the US any time soon, WinMo flavoured] will somehow appear in an Android version, I’d like to see that. Anyway, twelve days to go so back to normal viewing…
