Samsung Concept Phone, Flexible OLED!

Posted by: Peter Murphy on Nov 24 2008 - 26 views

Flexible OLED screens have been in the news for quite a while, but what is OLED, it stands for Organic Light Emitting Diode. Now I don’t truly understand the technology, but OLED, is purported to be less power hungry than LED. The OLED is a polymer based surface, that accepts various organic materials to be laid down upon it, in rows and columns, and the resulting matrix of pixels allows lights of different colours to be emitted. What does that mean to you and me? A laptop screen, a phone screen/display, the way most of us access our devices, the conduit for or graphical user interface[GUI].

What if you could fold that screen up and put it in your pocket, or wallet, or purse? What if your 10 inch display folded up into a mobile phone sized package? Sounds like Science Fiction doesn’t it?

So the idea of a Foldable OLED screen has been touted for a while, put a more accessible display, in your pocket using Origami, hey fold it up. the Video above, shows an automated display from Samsung, that is going to take over not only the mobile world, consider carrying your wide screen display in a tube?

OLO Computer’s "Redfly" for the iPhone: Concept

Posted by: Peter Murphy on Oct 18 2008 - 56 views

We’ve all seen the Celio Redfly, Windows Mobile companion right, not a netbook, but a device you plug your Windows Mobile device into, and the device provides the OS to run the Redfly. Most Windows Mobile users would also be familiar with Soti’s Pocket Controller Pro, which allows you full access to your device from any PC, whilst connected through activesync. If you had an iPhone, would you like a similair solution? This concept from OLO Computers may be what you are waiting for!

OLOiPhoneCompanion
Although this is a concept at the moment, it looks promising, even down to the detail, of an included dock that let’s the iPhone function as a touch pad when docked. Is this something you’d like to use? I can see the advantages for enterprise users with a device like this.
