Coming Attractions: A Sign Of Things To Come

Sometimes, here at JAMM, we just sit around wondering if a review item will ever grace our pages again, other days, it feels like we are beating the delivery man back with a stick.  Well, OK…we actually welcome every delivery with open arms, but you know what I mean.  The last week or so seems to have been one of those times which put us all on a first name basis with the delivery men in our lives.  So, just to give you an idea of what you can expect out of us in the next couple of weeks or so, let’s take a quick look at what has been inside some of those boxes we received lately.

Let’s start things off with the PowerMat, an ultra-modern inductive power charger, which can charge up to three mobile devices at once.

Next we have not one, not even two, but three (yes three) sets of headphones.   These include the Turbine from Monster Cable

Beats by Dr. Dre (you want bass, we got your bass right here…)

And the brand spanking new Sleek Audio Wireless SA6, featuring Kleer wireless technology.

Of course, you want phones?  Let’s talk about phones.  Coming up in the next month,we will be featuring:

The Samsung Moment, featuring the Android 1.5 Operating System from Google.

Palm Pixi, which is Palm’s second phone to be using its revolutionary WebOS interface.

Samsung Intrepid, with the newly redesigned Windows Mobile 6.5.

Motorola Cliq, featuring the ultra-customizable MotoBlur interface.

Wow…that is a whopping four mobile devices featuring four different mobile operating systems (Android, Palm, Windows Mobile 6.5, and MotoBlur).  Add to that the PowerMat, three headphones, plus all the cases, bags, and software in our normal repertoire…and you could say we are keeping ourselves busy.

So, stay tuned.  We have a lot of fun, excitement, and more coming soon.

My Instincts Told Me To Expect Big Things From Sprint

And arrive they did in the form of the Samsung Instinct HD.  This is the follow up to the Instinct, which Louis announced yesterday.  New features in the Instinct HD include a whopping 5 megapixel camera, video camcorder (take that iPod Touch 3), and the ability to playback HD quality video.  The Samsung Instinct showed up on my doorstep this afternoon.  So, keep watching this space for a full review.

Coming Attractions: When It Rains, It Pours

That old maxim really is true.  Just when I thought my summer was going to be nice and quiet, two new phones just fell out of the sky and landed in my lap.

IMG_5281

The first is the HTC Snap, which is Sprint’s new Windows Mobile Standard (non-touch) device.  I have been using this phone for a few days now, and it has already impressed my as one of the best non-touchscreen phones I have used.  Stay tuned as I will be taking a close look at this phone along with my good friend Judie Lipsett from Gear Diary.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch as they say (well, actually, Judie is at the ranch…but that is neither here nor there) Sprint contacted me to ask whether I would be interested in reviewing one of the hottest phones to hit their network…ever.  Of course, I am talking about the Palm Pre, which arrived at my house yesterday.  I am already head over heels with this phone, which has just exceeded my expectations in so many ways.  Watch for a multi-part review on this one, as we will take a look at the hardware, the WebOS interface and software, and then wrap it up with a look at how well the phone performs as a phone and Internet device.

Don’t forget, we will also be continuing our multi-part look at the Pantech Matrix Pro, as I will be handing that off to Brian so he can add his input to the series (I swear, Brian, the phone is in the mail…soon…I promise).

So, stay tuned.  It is shaping up to be a busy and exciting summer here at JAMM.  You won’t want to miss a second!

Coming Soon

Sometimes, when it rains, it pours, and the mailman has had quite a few deliveries for me lately.  Two in particular, though, struck me as being of interest to all of you.

IMG_4918

First is the Cowon S9 media player.  I’ve heard some great things about this one, including rumors of incredible sound quality,  We’ll be putting all of that to the test and bringing you the results in the next couple of weeks.

IMG_4919

Additionally, take a look at the Motorola Renew.  This T-Mobile branded phone was made with the environmentalists in mind.  The renew is a completely carbon neutral phone, whose plastic parts are made from recycled water bottles.  We’ll find out exactly how well you can hear a conversation made from a water bottle!

So, stay tuned, this is just the tip of the iceberg.  We have plenty more coming up.  This should be a very exciting summer here at JAMM, and you are not going to want to miss a second.

The New Kindles Are Coming! The New Kindles Are Coming!

Capture2

I’m not going to lie to you folks.  I ordered my new Kindle 2 the second it went on sale at Amazon.  I ride the train ever day (over an hour each way) to work.  And the thought of carrying 1500 or more volumes in one slim device is extremely attractive to me.

Initially, when I ordered it, Amazon sent me a ship date of March 2, with it arriving in my grubby little paws sometime around March 10.  well, I received an email today indicating that my new toy had already shipped!  The new arrival date is March 2, and I cannot wait.

Of course, I am not the only one to jump on the Kindle 2 bandwagon.  Judie Lipsett from Gear Diary and Dan Cohen from What’s On iPhone also purchased the new Kindle on February 9.  So, stay tuned as the three of us will be bringing you a joint review encompassing all of our thoughts on what could be the hottest gadget of 2009.
