AT&T Tilt, Jilted, gets some HSDPA love!
Posted by: Peter Murphy on Jan 05 2009 - 16 viewsOur good friend Clinton, over at Clinton Fitch dot Com has posted a great look at what sounds like some confounding stuff that mobile service providers get up to!
I’m sure I’ve mentioned that I’ve got a HTC TYTN II, on the way, [damn snail mail] so of course I’m looking for helpful software maniacally. So I’m reading and researching, and yesterday, Clinton tweeted about a useful app aimed at the TYTNII, Tilt, P4450 or if your a purist the Kaiser. Kaiser is a rather unfortunate naming faux pas, “don’t mention the war”.
KaiserTweak is a tweaking application that allows you to adjust various registry settings in your Kaiser device without having to actually go into the registry. Think of it as Tweaks2K2 that is specific only to these devices (in fact, I use both on my Tilt now).
Clinton’s post though is much more than a look at a tweaking app, he rails at and questions the policies of mobile service providers, and rightly so! Hit the link below for the full article, and a bit of education. You’ll be especially interested in this if you’ve an AT&T Tilt, as it let’s you take advantage fully of their famous 3G network, will boost your download speed by 65%.

Clinton Does The MWg Zinc II
Posted by: Peter Murphy on Aug 23 2008 - 18 viewsSince MWg took over O2 Asia, we have not seen a bevy of new devices. In fact, as Clinton himself noted, MWg were rebranding O2 devices. Seems though, that MWg have stepped up to the plate and are tossing out some nice looking, original devices.
The Zinc two(II) looks to be one such device, and as Clinton notes it may take some getting used to, but it does look like a sweeter Tilt.
The biggest challenge with the Zinc II’s keyboard is getting use to the key layout. Many items like numbers and punctuation are accessed with the Fn key which can take a bit of getting use too. I fully admit that the first few days with it were very frustrating but after a week or so I was texting and typing with no more errors than with my AT&T Tilt. The bottom line is give the keyboard a few days to grow on you.
It sort of reminds me of a Razr keyboard/touch pad. Maybe cause the back light is blue?
Nice to see MWg forwarding the device designs and not sitting on the old O2 form factor!
