Agendus for Blackberry by Iambic - News & Review

Posted by: Heather on Oct 03 2008 - 180 views

Iambichas recently released Agendus for Blackberry version 1.0.  Agendus has been out for other platforms:  Palm, WM Pocket PC, Smartphone WM, Symbian, and Windows Desktop.  If you are not familiar with Agendus, it is an enhanced calendar, contacts, and tasks integration software.  Blackberries are designed for business users with their e-mail integration, but next to that, calendars and contacts are the most important data to carry with you.  Before the world of cell phones, I used to be a walking phone book.  Now, I’m lucky if I can remember my home and work phone numbers without my ‘electronic brain’.  I have been using the beta version of Agendus for the Blackberry for the last month and a half.  Take a look after the jump to see the results…

Press Release - Aces Mahjong by Concrete Software

Posted by: Heather on Oct 02 2008 - 14 views

Concrete Software has just released Aces Mahjong for the Blackberry.  Now you have the ability to take the classic Chinese tile game with you everywhere you go.  As a warning, Mahjong is a highly addictive game.  I have never had it on my mobile phone, but I have spent numerous hours playing on my desktop.  This version has 50 different lay-outs, and I honestly did not know that many existed.  I am use to just five or six.  Plus, the layouts are ranked by difficultly, so you really have a chance to challenge yourself.  Check out the full press release after the jump.

The Oyster Opens, New Pearl…Flip

Posted by: Peter Murphy on Sep 10 2008 - 11 views

ScreenShot1002It was code named the kickstart, and it has on release on T-Mobile become the Pearl Flip. Now I would not think this is a bad marketing move, because we all know the pearl as a thing of beauty. Now most of us would know the build and design of the Moto Razr, which was an innovator for it’s time, but the recent regurgitation’s of the device have not really delivered.

So we now come to the first “flip” phone from BB, (BlackBerry). I can’t tell you much about this device, but it looks like something I’d want.

So you can check out the BB Pearl Flip at this link

This is probably the most anticipated handset of the near future, and it’s here.

There’s a video link as well

A lot of people have been waiting for this device, and I would like to get my hands on it as well.

Posted by: Peter Murphy on Aug 29 2008 - 37 views

imagePocket Express is a great utility for your phone, blackberry or pocket pc, that let’s you get news, weather, sports, travel info and a whole lot more within a single application. I had a little look at Pocket Express back in May and found it quite nifty. Really though, if you’re going to get something from AT&T for free, you want to jump on quick before it disappears.

Here’s a direct link to the AT&T Media Mall, where you can pick up your free copy, Windows Mobile and BlackBerry.

This is a limited offer, but I forgot to mention this is the premium pack/edition of Pocket Express.

For a limited time AT&T BlackBerry and Windows Mobile smartphone customers have the opportunity to get a FREE premium subscription of Pocket Express with unlimited access to news, weather, sports, movie showtimes, flight status, mapping, 411 search and more!

Don’t miss out!

BlackBerry gets some love from Apple and Microsoft

Posted by: Peter Murphy on Jul 25 2008 - 35 views

image Most of us think of the BlackBerry as a business phone, the tool of dour, number crunching wheelers and dealers in standard garb, suit and tie. This though does not exclude these device users from an appreciation of music, or the need for instant messaging, and some new applications for the BlackBerry have just been released that will make that device an even better, and even, dare I say it, a funky tool.

So firstly, iTunes sync for BlackBerry, now don’t get me wrong this doesn’t work for all BB devices and will not sync DRM tunes but it’s a step in the right  direction to putting a smile on a few faces. Most of us don’t think of the  BB as a music phone.

The Media Sync Software works with the BlackBerry Curve, Pearl, and the 8800 series of smartphones. The upcoming BlackBerry Bold and touch-screen Thunder are expected to have the software preloaded.

You can download the software here and it’s free.

Secondly, Something that largely seems to have gone under the radar of most people, even though Doug brought us news of the Windows Live update, it seems we’ve missed the release of Windows Messenger for BlackBerry. I missed it as well and I’m pulling it of of a local site, Mr.Gadget, where a couple of mobile devotees do their thing.

The client that will make the Windows Live Messenger service available to BlackBerry smartphones is now available for download. The Live Messenger for the BlackBerry can log chats, show user status, use emoticons, display pictures, and even send and receive files, just like the usual Live Messenger for computers and Windows Mobile smartphones. The Windows Live Messenger client is available in different languages including, but not limited to, English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Italian, Hebrew, and German. Unfortunately, that’s about the extent of what arrived this July—the Windows Live Hotmail for the BlackBerry which would use push technology isn’t out yet, although hopefully, it follows suit.
