Pocket Express Free, from Handmark and AT&T!

Posted by: Peter Murphy on Aug 29 2008 - 13 views

imagePocket Express is a great utility for your phone, blackberry or pocket pc, that let’s you get news, weather, sports, travel info and a whole lot more within a single application. I had a little look at Pocket Express back in May and found it quite nifty. Really though, if you’re going to get something from AT&T for free, you want to jump on quick before it disappears.

Here’s a direct link to the AT&T Media Mall, where you can pick up your free copy, Windows Mobile and BlackBerry.

This is a limited offer, but I forgot to mention this is the premium pack/edition of Pocket Express.

For a limited time AT&T BlackBerry and Windows Mobile smartphone customers have the opportunity to get a FREE premium subscription of Pocket Express with unlimited access to news, weather, sports, movie showtimes, flight status, mapping, 411 search and more!

Don’t miss out!

BlackBerry gets some love from Apple and Microsoft

Posted by: Peter Murphy on Jul 25 2008 - 31 views

image Most of us think of the BlackBerry as a business phone, the tool of dour, number crunching wheelers and dealers in standard garb, suit and tie. This though does not exclude these device users from an appreciation of music, or the need for instant messaging, and some new applications for the BlackBerry have just been released that will make that device an even better, and even, dare I say it, a funky tool.

So firstly, iTunes sync for BlackBerry, now don’t get me wrong this doesn’t work for all BB devices and will not sync DRM tunes but it’s a step in the right  direction to putting a smile on a few faces. Most of us don’t think of the  BB as a music phone.

The Media Sync Software works with the BlackBerry Curve, Pearl, and the 8800 series of smartphones. The upcoming BlackBerry Bold and touch-screen Thunder are expected to have the software preloaded.

You can download the software here and it’s free.

Secondly, Something that largely seems to have gone under the radar of most people, even though Doug brought us news of the Windows Live update, it seems we’ve missed the release of Windows Messenger for BlackBerry. I missed it as well and I’m pulling it of of a local site, Mr.Gadget, where a couple of mobile devotees do their thing.

The client that will make the Windows Live Messenger service available to BlackBerry smartphones is now available for download. The Live Messenger for the BlackBerry can log chats, show user status, use emoticons, display pictures, and even send and receive files, just like the usual Live Messenger for computers and Windows Mobile smartphones. The Windows Live Messenger client is available in different languages including, but not limited to, English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Italian, Hebrew, and German. Unfortunately, that’s about the extent of what arrived this July—the Windows Live Hotmail for the BlackBerry which would use push technology isn’t out yet, although hopefully, it follows suit.

CrackBerry.com reviews the BlackBerry 8220 (the flip!)

Posted by: Brandon Steili on Jul 23 2008 - 18 views

Yea … you’re seeing that right. Months and months before this thing even thinks about hitting the streets the folks over at CrackBerry.com already have one in hand and have written up a hardware review. Think about that for a second … this thing hasn’t even been “officially announced” yet! Talk about getting your hands on a pre-release.

Anyway - click on through to CrackBerry.com and check this thing out … they even took the time to go down to a Rogers store to check out the flip phone competition. Very cool look at what is bound to be a VERY popular BlackBerry.

Agendus likes different fruit!

Posted by: Peter Murphy on Jul 22 2008 - 41 views

Iambic’s Agendus has been around for a while on Windows Mobile, it does something for BlackBerry and it’s intended business users, that is desperately wanted.

I primarily mean the idea of connecting calendar and contacts, something that for some reason is missing in pre-installed apps on virtually all smartphone platforms.

From a post over at intomobile today, via MobilityToday, we find some new BlackBerry love in Beta form for Agendus.

Agendus for BlackBerry

We’ve reviewed and kept an eye on Agendus for a while, and the Idea of them going cross platform is great.

If you have a BlackBerry and want to try this out you can download the Beta HERE

Update: I couldn’t get the link to open for the Beta, if it works for you let me know in the comments!

Otherwise I’m just selling rotten fruit!

eWallet: Coming Soon To A BlackBerry Near You!

Posted by: dgoldring on Jul 15 2008 - 54 views

image

Last week, Lauren brought you the news of eWallet 6.1 for Windows Mobile devices.  This is a great update of a fantastic program.  And yet, I felt a certain sadness in the air.  It was almost as though a million Blackberry users all let out a giant sigh in unison.  I mean, eWallet is available for Palm, Windows Mobile, heck even the iPhone (almost)…but no Blackberry love.  Or is there?

I was checking out Ilium’s blog earlier today when I noticed this piece previewing the upcoming eWallet for Blackberry.  Yes, that’s right Blackberry users, now you too can enjoy the the freedom of having all of your personal passwords and data right there in your pocket.  Passwords, bank accounts, credit cards, software registration codes.  You name it, you are going to want it.  So, start collecting all of your data and get ready to enter it all into your Blackberry.  eWallet will be here before you know it.

And if you are a serious Blackberry user, then you are probably highly anticipating the Bold.  Well, Boy Genius Report has a fantastically thorough review of the new Blackberry.  Their conclusion?  Well, it doesn’t suck.  But it also may not be all that and a sack of chips either.

Check out the full Blackberry Bold review, here.  I wonder how eWallet would look on that nice Bold screen? Blackberry users, what do you think?  Looking forward to eWallet?  How about the Bold?   Or do you have your sights set on something else?  Let us know.
