Sandisk Lights My Fire With The Sansa Fuze.

Posted by: dgoldring on Mar 11 2008 - 686 views

Earlier this week, although we did not write about it in this space, rumors started trickling in about a new Sansa media player from Sandisk.  In fact, it wasn’t long before Amazon confirmed these early reports of a new media player, posting for pre-order sales.

Sony Updates…Almost Everything

Posted by: dgoldring on Feb 26 2008 - 439 views

Wow!  When I woke up this morning, my inbox was overflowing, and much of it was upcoming releases from Sony.  The powerhouse of multimedia is at it again, updating almost everything in their line of headphones and multimedia players.  In fact, I am extremely please to find that their new multimedia player finally includes Bluetooth functionality, one of the biggest criticisms I laid into the NWZ-A818 when I reviewed it a few months ago.

128mb MP3 Player a ‘Clear’ Winner Over iPods

The mpion releases positively and negatively charged ions, which supposedly neutralize breakouts. Here are the instructions: Touch the device to the offending area as you listen to tunes, flip the switch to Minus, and hold for five to 10 minutes. Allegedly, the negative ions open pores and replenish moisture. Then, flip it to Positive and hold to reduce oil and close your pores back up

Yup, this little media player is supposed to also have the ability to help clear up acne!  So whatever the mpion MP3 player lacks in storage and other more traditional features, it more than makes up for with its super acne-fighting powers. :)   Even the latest big-screen iPod doesn’t have that sort of ‘touch’ effect …

HTC X7510- Now An Even Greater Advantage

Posted by: danc on Feb 11 2008 - 3,103 views

The iPhone and iPod Touch aren’t the only devices getting some flash memory love– an upgraded model of the HTC Advantage will soon be released in Europe with 16GB of flash memory in place of the original 8GB microdrive. Other additions include HTC’s TouchFLO and (rumor has it) the soon-to-be-released Windows Mobile 6.1.

Pretty ain’t it??

I’m an iPod and You’re a Zune…Can you hear me?

Posted by: Peter Murphy on Feb 03 2008 - 530 views

imageOver at Endgadget, I found this interesting post, that I couldn’t ignore. Imagine your personal media player, does something untoward, and resets while you are using it, and emits an ear piercing, literally, signal that damages your hearing permanently. Sounds far fetched doesn’t it. Obviously not an everyday occurrence, but it seems that it has happened to at least one person, and it seems that at least one lawyer is interested in pursuing the case for damages!

Now I can’t say one way or another, that this is legitimate, but the website exists and the effects of said malfunction would seem to be rather devastating.

My Experience with the Microsoft Zune

In November of 2006, I received an electric shock through the earbuds of my Microsoft Zune. Simultaneously, the Zune software reset and emitted a very loud noise through the earbuds.
Since the incident, I’ve suffered blood and fluid leakage from my ear canal, impaired hearing, and incessant ringing and discomfort.
I’ve been treated with vitamins, steroids, pain killers, sleep aids, anti-depressants, and other medications. All, to no avail.

Does it warrant a class action?

Review: Earphone Audio Processor 03. Listen To Your Music The Way It Was Intended

Posted by: dgoldring on Jan 26 2008 - 975 views

 IMG_0787

I have always enjoyed listening to music.  Even before my college days, when I spent four years as a radio DJ, I have enjoyed an infatuation with good music, particularly rhythmic and acoustic guitar.  I love slipping on my Ultimate Ears headphones and losing myself in the song.  Coupled with my Sandisk Sansa View, I am able to create an exceptional listening environment.  Perfect…or almost so.  The problem is, even this deluxe setting does not really allow me to fine tune my settings.  Well, now there is a solution for even the most discerning listener, the Tension Labs Earphone Audio Processor (EAP) 03.  Essentially, the EAP03 is an amplifier for your headphones, which will allow you to unleash the full audio potential of your high quality in-ear headphones.  To hear them tell it:

The EAP03 is the first portable digital earphone amplifier. Designed from the ground up to provide the power and customization needed to drive modern earphones. With a precision multi-band tone control and an audio expander function, the EAP03 is the only way to listen to your earphones. The EAP03 is fully compatible with all portable audio players and all in-ear earphones. Powered by a lithium-polymer battery and as small as a credit card, the EAP03 is as portable as your music.

The EAP03 uses the latest multi-channel audio processor with dual high-performance sigma-delta codecs to provide seamless control and customization for your audio. With audio level monitoring and a sound-level meter function, the EAP03 will allow you to actually know what your hearing.
