Update: Winterface 1.2

There are a lot of players out there with their takes on how your “main” screen should look. Some of them do it as simple today plugins, but others go much further. Winterface is one of those players that tries to take the WM touch interface to the next level. This newest update adds a fair bit of new content, chief among the new features being a today screen plugin. I’m not sure how this will work out, as I no longer use a WM device, but we did review Winterface when it first came out if you’d like to know more about it.

I’m not going to go overboard an an iPhone interface comparison here, but another one of the new features is adding favourite websites as shortcuts. That’s pretty neat!

Zune Releases Software/Firmware Update 3.1

MS has released update 3.1 for all Zunes, and it is available now for download.  This update is all about fun!!!  There are three free new games:  Checkers, Sudoku, and Space Battle.  Plus, Texas Hold’em has also been updated to include new levels of difficulty in single player mode, as well as a multi-player mode.  I love portable gaming, so this was a welcome surprise.  There is also a new feature for the Zune Social called ‘Like-minded Listeners’.   It allows Zuners to compare their musical preferences with other listeners and friends.  The Zune Social is getting a face lift, as well, to make navigation a little clearer.  The update is also suppose to improve device stability, performance, and PC syncing.  I hope we continue to see more updates for the Zune in the future.  When the device first premiered, it was quite awhile before we saw anything, so keep up the good work MS.

More “My Little Tank” News from Astraware

In case you missed yesterday’s news, Astraware released “My Little Tank” for the iPhone and iPod Touch.  Well, today, even more people get to join in the MLT party!!!  Astraware released it for S60, as well as Blackberry, for the first time today.  For Palm OS and WM users, don’t worry, you are not being left out in the cold.  MLT has been updated to include newer WM and Palm devices, and they have added 20 new levels.  That gives the game a total of 80 levels!!!  “My Little Tank” is an arcade shooter game were you play the role of a mini-tank out to defend your base while destroying enemy tanks, radar stations, and bases.  Plus, you will run into all kinds of terrain changes from snow and swamps to plains and deserts.  If you already have a registered copy of MLT, the upgrade is free.  If not, it can be purchased from Astraware for $9.99.  Its also available for the sale price of  $4.95, if you are a member of Club Astraware.  Honestly, for $4.95, I am going to go home and download this game.  I love the little strategy games, and this will be great entertainment for traveling or waiting in line during the holiday shopping season.

Iliumsoft gets King’d: Releases a new King’s Corners Game for iPhone

Sorry folks, you’re not going to get a full review out of me on this one on opening day, but I can tell you I had a chance to spend sometime with King’s Corners during the beta period, and its actually quite a bit of fun. Now, this is not a game you’re going to spend hours and hours straight playing (maybe)… its one you’re going to find you spend a lot of time playing in small time segments like when you’re waiting for your doctor, or a friend. It’s the perfect time waster game where you only have a couple minutes between events. Anyway the game is out now, retails at 99 cents (iTunes), and frankly is well worth the buck!

Presenting Travel Genius From HeroCraft

After a small delay, HeroCraft has released Travel Geniusfor the Palm OS, Windows Mobile, Blackberry, and Symbian.  The game tests your skills in the world of geographical trivia.  The world is becoming a smaller place every day, and this is a tool, that is not only fun, but helps you learn about exotic far away places.  It contains more than 700 questions that cover much more than simply country and capital city like we learned in grade school.   You will be tested on countries, oceans, people, famous personalities, and great inventions.  Do you think you are up to the task?   I will be receiving a copy of the game to review.  So check back to see if I am a Travel Genius, or if I will be working to see if I can even measure up to a fifth grader.

Get Tanked! Astraware releases My Little Tank for iPhone and Touch

I’m not going to go too far into this one because as usual this game is available for almost every platform under the sun, and there’s a video (below) which highlights the gameplay very well. Kudos to Astraware for making these videos available. Without a demo ability the videos really let you know if this is going to interest you!
