Press Release - Aces Mahjong by Concrete Software

Posted by: Heather on Oct 02 2008 - 11 views

Concrete Software has just released Aces Mahjong for the Blackberry.  Now you have the ability to take the classic Chinese tile game with you everywhere you go.  As a warning, Mahjong is a highly addictive game.  I have never had it on my mobile phone, but I have spent numerous hours playing on my desktop.  This version has 50 different lay-outs, and I honestly did not know that many existed.  I am use to just five or six.  Plus, the layouts are ranked by difficultly, so you really have a chance to challenge yourself.  Check out the full press release after the jump.

Android G1 Unboxed

Posted by: Peter Murphy on Oct 02 2008 - 30 views

Well with twenty days to go to the official availability of the Google phone, someone is flaunting a NDA, and laying bare the contents of the G1 package. Looks like TmoNews got  the exclusive.

Head on over and have a look, and I pity the poor employee that leaked these shots, I’m sure with some enhancement, the proud owner will be able to be linked to these shots!

Join Proporta’s Facebook page, get 12% discount!

Posted by: Ragart on Oct 01 2008 - 6 views

This one is simple and short enough, so I’ll let Proporta speak for themselves:

ScreenShot004

Friends of Proporta

Proporta is made up of a friendly bunch who enjoy making new friends. As well as having their very own lovely website (www.proporta.com), Proporta also host a page with the popular networking site Facebook.

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock for the past few years you’ll know that Facebook is a great way of interacting with people. It’s also a fantastic tool for Proporta to inform their ‘fans’ of promotions, latest products and industry news, and for their customers to write on the Proporta wall with any comments they fancy sharing with Proporta and their fellow Facebookers.

Because Proporta value a good friendship, they’re offering a 12% discount on all of their very new (very nice) cases for the latest members of the iPod family (2G iPod touch, 2G iPod classic and 4G iPod nano). However, this offer is exclusive to friends of the Proporta Facebook page and only available until the 31st October 2008. To find out how to receive your discount, become a friend and all will be revealed.

So what have you got to lose? Join the Facebook page now!

Push Gmail – Now On Windows Mobile

Posted by: dgoldring on Sep 30 2008 - 50 views

One of the biggest gripes I hear from Windows Mobile users is that there is no true way to get your Gmail pushed to your device.  Sure, you can simulate something like this by setting Pocket Outlook to check your mail every 15 minutes.  But really, this is not the same as push which alerts you as soon as a message hits your inbox.

Well, gripe no more (or for those of you who always have to have something to gripe about, find something else).  A free Windows Mobile add-on from developer gmurray will now allow you to push your email from any IMAP service, directly to your device.  And as everyone here knows, last year, Gmail started offering IMAP service, in addition to POP3.

You can download the program for free, here.  But before you do, I will just warn you that it is still a Beta, so it may have some imperfections.  For more information, you can also check out the developer’s blog and the program documentation.  Enjoy!!!

Take A Survey…Win A Free Treo

Posted by: dgoldring on Sep 30 2008 - 9 views

Palm Treo

Here is something quick and easy you can do, which could result in a free Treo.  The folks over at Palm want to know how you manage your information.  Information management, after all, is essentially the primary reason you probably bought a PDA in the first place.  As Palm puts it, though:

Information has become the lifeblood of the business world. But in many workplaces, that lifeblood isn’t just circulating — it’s hemorrhaging. Palm is participating in a comprehensive survey being conducted by the research firm Basex that’s analyzing just how much information we all try to manage every day — and how people deal with it.

To help them understand what tools you will need in order to better manage you information, and make your PDA more relevant to your needs, they have put together a short survey.  It only takes 10 minutes to complete, so it should not be a huge burden on your time.  Five lucky participants will even win a free Palm Treo just for completing the survey.  So, what are you waiting for?  I have given you all of the information I have.  You’ll need to head over to Palm and complete the survey for the rest.  And if you do win the Treo, be sure to come back and let us know about it.

Symbian can soon join VoIP coolness?

Posted by: Ragart on Sep 29 2008 - 5 views

550_Symbian_serieN

Well this isn’t really news a program per se (per who?), but an engine. Regardless, it’s still something exciting for the Symbian crowd. EMCC Software has developed a VoIP engine for the Symbian platform, which apparently did not have one until now. This hopefully means Symbian phones will be seeing Skype-like programs to take advantage of wi-fi or unlimited data plans to save you some minutes. I’m actually not sure what they mean by “engine”…whether that engine comes with any sort of program, or whether they’re waiting for devs to use the engine in a program?

Maybe you can figure it out in the full press release after the jump.
