HTC Launches Touch Pro On Sprint: Christmas Comes In October
Posted by: dgoldring on Oct 24 2008 - 76 viewsI just got an email from the folks over at HTC today. It seem that the much anticipated HTC Touch Pro has finally landed at Sprint. This is the one I, and many of you, have been waiting for. Its features include:
- a five-row, slide-out QWERTY keyboard f
- 2.8 inch display
- built-in 3.2 megapixel camera including an optical auto-focus lens
- Windows Mobile 6.1
- advanced wireless capabilities (EV-DO Rev. A)
- expandable storage capabilities with a microSD card slot
- a business card scanner application
- auto sensor screen pivoting
As HTC says, this is the perfect device to balance both your professional and personal lives. The HTC Touch Pro is priced at $299.99 with a two-year subscribtion. It also requires the Everything plan with data. Customers will be able to purchase the device in select national retailers beginning the week of Oct. 26 and in all Sprint sales channels, including online at www.sprint.com, 1-800-SPRINT1 and Sprint Stores, on Nov. 2.
So, is this on your short list for your next device? I have been looking at this and the Sprint Instinct, but I am leaning heavily back toward the Touch Pro. Hopefully, I will be able to land one by the end of the year. How about you? Is this the device you have been waiting for? Or is something else capturing your fancy? Wait. Press Release: Blackberry Bold Arrives at AT&T on Nov. 4
Posted by: Heather on Oct 22 2008 - 26 views
The Blackberry Bold will be exclusively available through AT&T on Nov. 4 for $299. The new “crackberry”, as I lovingly call them, will not only take advantage of AT&T’s 3G network, but will be the first to support HSDPA networks around the world. That’s great news for business travelers everywhere. We are living in the time of the worldwide economy. The guts of the new Bold has a nice mix of business and pleasure features. It comes with built in GPS and WiFi, as well as, a more powerful 624MHz processor. The internal storage on the Bold gets a bump to 1G with available expansion up to to 16G via microSD/SDHC. On the fun side of things, the Bold has a 2 megapixel camera with built in flash, zoom, and video recording capabilities. Honestly, for me, once they get the resolution up there to a standard 5 megapixels with flash and zoom, I am done with a regular camera. I never have a camera when I truly need one, but I always have my phone. The Bold also has an advanced media player for playing music and videos, and viewing pictures. You can see that Blackberry is really pushing to be an all around device. With the new Bold, and the soon to be released Storm, they do not want to see the iPhone steal all their customers away. We shall see how it all plays out. Check out the full press release after the jump.

Bad News Sprint Fans: Touch Pro Delayed
Posted by: dgoldring on Oct 17 2008 - 20 viewsBad news for you Sprint fans out there who have been waiting to upgrade to the HTC Touch Pro. It looks like you will have to wait a few extra weeks longer than expected for the much heralded replacement for the HTC Mogul. Instead of releasing the phone this weekend, as had been initially indicated, they have now announced that the Touch Pro will not be released until late October or early November. It’s only a few weeks, so be patient. it sounds like the delay is not performance related, but, “to ensure we have adequate inventory in all channels before making the device commercially available.”
Whenever it is released, the Touch Pro is expected to fetch a whopping $299 with a two year contract. To be honest, I was hoping that the Touch Diamond and Touch Pro would come in at a lower price point, something closer to the $199 Apple iPod 3G I keep hearing about over at rival AT&T.

Sprint: But This One Goes To Eleven…In Olive Green And Rose Red!
Posted by: dgoldring on Oct 14 2008 - 16 viewsDoes anyone else remember that scene in Spinal Tap where they are showing off their amplifiers and they say, this one is better than all the others because it goes to 11. No other features set it apart. This one just has a dial that goes to 11, while the others go to 10. Is 11 louder than 10? Probably not. The documentarian filming the episode presses the issue until he is frustrated by the repeated response, “This one goes to 11.”
That is how I feel when I see report after report of the same old phones being released with nothing more than cosmetic changes. As if anyone is looking at the new green and red Centros and suddenly realizing how much better their phones would work if they were painted differently.
That being said, Sprint announced today that the Palm Centro will be released in Olive Green and Rode Red. Both are expected to be available later this month for $79.99 (with a two year contract.)
…and this one goes to 11.

Omnia, …, SAGA, An epic…Not
Posted by: Peter Murphy on Oct 14 2008 - 29 viewsIf I bought a phone that was branded/named the “saga” I would be worried. It implies a long, drawn out process.
BUT we are talking about the Samsung Omnia, and it seems it is coming to Verizon
I’d like to get my hands one of these, but if it’s going to be a Greek epic, …

Video: Sony Ericsson Xperia X1
Posted by: Peter Murphy on Oct 13 2008 - 15 views
With all of the delays, non appearances, that the Xperia has had, it would be nice to think that it will be available somewhere, some time. Well a search of YouTube, found me a little glimpse of the X1, and I thought I’d share it with you guys. We know it’s a HTC made device, and there are some comparisons to another HTC device, namely the Touch Pro. When you’ll be able to get your hands on one, I throw my hands up in hope!
