The Zune? Not always a joke!
Posted by: Peter Murphy on Sep 05 2008 - 20 viewsWell it is and it falls in line with M$’s media, PR culpability. So you want to release a new media player in a line of successive devices, you think you’ve got the packaging right? You think you have the device form factor right? It ends up on the shelves of a retailer, before you can post the press release. That’s not “Priceless” although there’s a receipt!
There’s a bunch of unboxing pictures at Gizmodo, if anyone’s interested!
I know it takes a very special person to appreciate a Zune

New NAVIGON 2200t GPS Navigator
Posted by: Ragart on Sep 03 2008 - 19 viewsYeah, I know there are about a Brazillion ways to navigate the roads – but how about navigating the roads with free, live traffic updates? Yeah, do you like that? Navigon hopes you do!
The new NAVIGON 2200t retails for $229 and helps you out by showing a real-time traffic view of the area you’re driving through. No more getting stuck in a jam. This feature is ready right out of the box (although you should probably put it in your car first – unless you open it there), and there’s no need for a subscription or a sign-up. The feature lasts for the lifetime of the product. Just set it up and evade traffic like the sly, super driver you were meant to be.
Other features include stuff you’ve heard about before: turn-by-turn instructions over voice, fewest clicks to a final destination, and favourite locations as Points of Interest on the map. So if you’re looking for a new GPS unit, but don’t wanna be tethered to a subscription for traffic updates, you might just wanna take a look at the 2200t.
For the rest of the details, hope over to the Navigon site.

Furry Mobiles! Hope plush is not a trend?
Posted by: Peter Murphy on Sep 02 2008 - 9 views
Incredibly I’m not sure whether I’m amused, bemused or just simply annoyed by this device. Most of us think of chic, technically smooth, and well modernist even futuristic, as terms that would describe a new device that we would even consider as a possible replacement for our current devices. I don’t think cute comes into most of our vocabularies when we consider a mobile device.
My fascination, and somehow it has also become a psychological profiling endeavour, and leads me to places where I never thought I would go, fascinating and fearful. So would you give your kids a Tele - Teddy?

HTC Dream… or your worst nightmare?
Posted by: Peter Murphy on Aug 31 2008 - 45 views
Now I don’t know if it’s the leopard skin background, or the fact that this is probably the ugliest HTC device that I’ve seen in a long time, you’d have to assume that the OS makes up for it. The aforementioned specs for the Dream, let’s face it, were not super, as far as the current batch of HTC devices go.
More info has come to light, suggesting that the original quoted specs were undercooked, and the dream is empowered with 256Rom/128Ram, which would make a lot more sense. We’ve also got a new moniker, the G1
The G1’s specs and features are still unknown but it is rumoured to sport a 528Mhz Qualcomm 7201 processor; Data kit for USB connectivity in the box; 128MB Internal RAM; 256MB Internal ROM, 1GB MicroSD card; Dedicated camera button; 3.1MP camera (no flash) 2048 x 1536; Video playback files - H.264, streaming, 3GPP, MPEG4, and Codec 3GP and a Dedicated YouTube Player. Yes, I agree the memory is really low, but this is still a rumour so take it with a grain of salt.
All right I’m looking at this and I’m thinking, well I’m revising my thoughts, the images are bad, and actually are probably misleading. I’m taken aback by the unfamiliar design, and I’m hoping this works, it’s like a weird tilt. The T-Mobile branding and the cornucopia of comparative shots, seem to defy the possibility of a mock-up, but the dream might still be something that keeps you awake at night.

Sony’s Got New Walkmans!
Posted by: Peter Murphy on Aug 28 2008 - 48 viewsI might be showing my age here, but the first Walkman I had looked something like the image on the left. I still have a lot of the cassettes that I used to play in it as well, but the worlds changed and so has the Walkman, and I just have to accept it.
Sony, today have unveiled three new models of the Walkman range, that’ll help you pump up the volume, and help you cut out the volume, or ambient noise around you with new noise cancellation features.
Read on for the more information about all three models

HTC Smartphone, HTCS740… WOW
Posted by: Peter Murphy on Aug 26 2008 - 73 viewsI don’t know why you wouldn’t want a device with a touch screen, but it seems the demand is out there. Now what impresses me, a 530 Mhz processor, and get this 256 Mb of ram, to qualify that, a quarter of a Gig of RAM. and this is in a non touch screen, Windows Mobile Standard device. That RAM tops the Diamond and the Touch Pro.
But Wait There’s More,
This is a unique device sporting a normal 12 Key phone input keyboard, and a slide out QWERTY as well.
