Palm PRE’s Unique Charging System

Posted by: Heather on Jan 08 2009 - 1 views

The new Palm PRE can be charged wire-free.  The hockey puck looking device in the picture above is called the Palm Touchstone charging dock.  The dock is attached to your computer, and the PRE is placed on top of the dock.  The magnets inside the dock align the phone so it is in the correct position for charging.  The PRE is still fully functional while it is charging.  All I can say is less wires is always a good thing.  In addition to purchasing the Touchstone, you will also need to purchase a special back cover for the PRE for everything to work.  No word on pricing.

The Day Has Arrived: NEW Palm Goodness!!!

Posted by: Heather on Jan 08 2009 - 13 views

As many of you know, I have been waiting for this day since Palm first announced this gathering about a month ago.  I have been a Palm fan for quite awhile.  I had a Palm IIIe, a TX, and now I have a Centro.  So, I kept my fingers crossed waiting for this news to come my way, and hope that Palm wasn’t going to drop another Foleo on our laps.  Palm came through BIG TIME!!!  A new OS……a new phone…a whole new time at Palm.  Check out all the goodness after the break.

Finally!! A Touch Screen Walkman From Sony

Posted by: dgoldring on Jan 08 2009 - 5 views

X-Series_lw

It is no secret that I am a pretty big fan of the Sony Walkman Video players.  They are fantastic media players, with some really advanced features. My big disappointment, however, with the whole line was that they really did not offer a large screen player which could adequately compete with the iPod Touch.  I have really been waiting for Sony to come out with a quality player which could compete with the ipod Touch as a solid video player.  Well, at CES this week, they announced their newest model, the X1000.  Hit the jump for the full press release on this fantastic looking new media player.

Sena Unveils Customizable Leather Cases at Macworld

Posted by: Heather on Jan 06 2009 - 15 views

Sena Cases revealed today that starting in early 2009, they will have fully customizable leather cases available on their website.  When I say custom, I mean everything!  You will be able to choose:  design, leather type, leather color/pattern, and add or remove other features like closure type and clip.  Plus, you get the bonus option of adding laser engraved text, a company logo, or a graphic.  WOW!!!  I hate having the same cookie cutter item that everyone else has.  I like to express myself as an individual.  Sena already had more choices than most with their excellent color selection, but now you get to design your own personal case.  They also have great quality, so this is something you need to check out.  If you happen to be at Macworld, Sena has a leather artisan on-site to demonstrate their new product.  You can read their full press release after the break.

Another on the Bandwagon: Palm Apps Store

Posted by: Heather on Dec 31 2008 - 6 views

Well, it seems that Palm has taken another step towards the future with the addition of a mobile applications store.  The Palm Mobile Apps Store has over 5000 programs that can be downloaded directly to your device, including 1000 free programs.  A total of 25 Palm devices are supported for both Window Mobile and Palm OS.  In order to have access to the store from your ‘Palm’, you simply need to download the free application.  Palm gives you 3 ways to download the software:  download from their site and then sync your device, type www.mypalmmobile.com into your mobile browser, or use the Palm mobile portal on your device, select MyPalm software to install.  As a side note, these are the instructions for my Centro, you need to select your device before Palm gives you the instructions, so it could be slightly different dependent on what Palm you have.  For an added bonus, Palm is throwing in a free application.  Choose from either GetSportz, which lets you get scores, updates, and news on all 9 major sports, or Pinger, which lets you forward or reply to vocie messages with a touch of a button.  All the directions on how to get your free app is available on the instructions page for your device.  I have 2 things to say about this new mobile store.  First, it is about time!!!  It took Apple to think of it first before Palm made their own.  How long was Palm the smartphone leader?  Second, since Palm made the effort to create this mobile store, they obviously are not giving up on the mobile smartphone business.  Don’t forget, big Palm announcement on Jan. 8!!!

Press Release:Spb Online Gets More Channels!

Posted by: Peter Murphy on Dec 30 2008 - 13 views

spbOnline SPB Online, is a one stop online service conduit for your Windows Mobile device, standard or professional.

Spb Online is a program that offers users an online experience by linking them to all sources of information - from live streaming video and audio, to RSS news feeds and weather, Spb Online is perfect for those getting started into the Windows Mobile experience.

When our own TJChan reviewed SPB Online back in October, one point he made in his conclusion was

TV needs to be more flexible with the ability for users to add there own stations. Adding value to the TV portion may even include an interface that can parse and interact with YouTube or other sources in a method similar to Apple TV

Whilst not complying with all of TJ’s requests, SPB announce today an update for the TV services in SPB Online, adding additional channels, boosting the total to 40, in 11 languages.

Also don’t forget that the SPB Christmas Offer is still running until December 30.

Hit the link below for the full press release.
