Astraware Summer Sale!
Posted by: Peter Murphy on Aug 01 2008 - 5 views
Where I come from, it’s the worst part of winter, and August 1st is traditionally the “Horse’s Birthday.” And Astraware want to have a Summer sale — how inconsiderate.
If you’re looking for action games like Platypus or GTS World Racing, strategy titles like Westward or Tradewinds 2, word games like Bubble Babble, or favorite classics like Astraware Sudoku - they’re all included with special prices for a limited time! The Hot Summer Sale only lasts until midnight on 17th August, so make sure you don’t miss out.
So fighting off the frostbite, I’ll turn you on to Astraware’s sale. It’s hard to type while your teeth are chattering!

Review: Digital Photo Keychain Takes Pictures Really, Really Mobile
Posted by: weiganla on Jun 30 2008 - 238 views
The biggest problem with digital cameras is showing your photos off, especially to people who aren’t very tech savvy. Do you email them? I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve physically had to go up to my grandparents’ house to help them access pictures I’ve emailed. Upload them to a photo sharing site? You have to have an online computer handy to look at them. Print them out? Only if you want to spend a mint in paper and ink. Digital photo frames are becoming more popular, but they’re still expensive and not exactly portable.
A new solution is a digital photo keychain. They’re small, lightweight, and typically hold more than 60 shots. Considering they’re tinier than a lot of the other things most people have dangling from their keychains — a friend used to
carry a 6-inch rubber chicken — they’re definitely mobile technology. Very mobile. So when the nice folks at WholesaleKeychain.com offered me a chance to take a look at their product, I was excited to check it out.

A Zune Ad, That Doesn’t Suck!
Posted by: PatrickJ on May 14 2008 - 175 viewsI am one of those rare and mythical creatures - a (very) happy Zune owner. I have a Gen 1 Zune and really have no complaints with it and use it all the time. I have not been a fan of Zune advertising however, which I just may have mentioned in the past on this site.
This week I just caught a Zune ad on TV for the first time ever - and I was really almost shocked to find that I like it. I think it’s a well done advert for the Zune … finally.
Things I like about it:
- No enormous pink bunnnies starring in it at all
- It’s simple
- The track used in it (I don’t know what it is) is not lame IMO
- It highlights the single biggest selling point of the Zune - the Zune Pass all-you-can-eat music plans
- No pink bunnies
Have any of you seen the ad yet? (if not, click the image at the top of this post to have a look) What do you think?

Zune Finds THE Answer
Posted by: PatrickJ on Apr 20 2008 - 537 views
Reebok and Zune have teamed up for the first time to bring you a limited edition Allen Iverson sneaker - the Answer XI Zune. The sneakers will be sold with a customized Zune 8g black Zune, featuring etched AI graphics on the back, and loaded with special AI content. Only 60 will be produced and sold.
Cool. This limited edition offer comes out to coincide with the start of the NBA Playoffs, where unfortunately AI’s team probably won’t be hanging around very long - as the Lakers should make it a short series.
I think it’s good to see Zune branching out a little on the subject matter for a limited edition series - and Iverson is a great pick as a first sports figure to feature. He’s been one of the NBA’s most electrifying and hardest working players for a long time. Definitely one of the top players I’d go out of my way to see playing. Not sure how any of that ties back into Zune’s brand image - but I’d go for one anyway if I had some spare funds laying around, although I might have to accidentally forget the sneakers box when walking out.
If you want one, there might still be some left at these participating stores:
* Complex/Training Day Store (NYC)
* Commonwealth (VA)
* Major Commonwealth (DC)
* Wish (ATL)
* The 400 (Denver)
How can there not be a Philadelphia store in there???

Zune Sync to a Virtual Machine on a Mac = Easy
Posted by: PatrickJ on Apr 02 2008 - 959 views
Admitting this will probably get me kicked out of the Mac Switchers Club - and to think I only just joined by getting a MacBook a couple of weeks ago. Oh well, anyway - I am one of those seven people (I’ve upped the number because of Zune 2) who own a Zune.
A couple of days ago on my dying Dell PC, the Zune software informed me that it was ‘corrupt’ and pretty thoroughly buggered by the sound of things - and offered me up a pretty lengthy set of steps to correct the issue, involving a complete uninstall of itself and several MS component drivers, reinstall from the web and so on.
Since I am increasingly using only the Mac (and pulling all my data off the PC), I figured that was as good a time as any to see if I could get the Zune syncing with the Mac through a VMWare virtual machine. I figured it might be possible, but would probably be a bit of a pain, with a lot of hoops to jump through to make things work. Boy was I wrong. It was easy. A breeze really.

Sandisk Lights My Fire With The Sansa Fuze.
Posted by: dgoldring on Mar 11 2008 - 677 viewsEarlier this week, although we did not write about it in this space, rumors started trickling in about a new Sansa media player from Sandisk. In fact, it wasn’t long before Amazon confirmed these early reports of a new media player, posting for pre-order sales.
