Review: Sony S-AIRPLAY Music System
Posted by: Ragart on Dec 10 2008 - 110 viewsSo this one was kind of a surprise. I asked Sony for a loan so that I could test out their new S-AIRPLAY iPod-based system and a monstrous box arrived at my door within a week. From the pictures online I thought this thing was a lot smaller! I spent just over three weeks with this wireless music system and used it pretty much everyday to play music on my iPhone.

Review: Richard|Solo 1800 for iPhone 2G/3G
Posted by: Ragart on Dec 09 2008 - 72 viewsI’ve seen a lot of these cling-on charging solutions for the iPhone on my Google Reader feeds, but this one in particular caught my eye. Unlike the warm embrace of the Mophie, the Richard|Solo 1800 attaches to the bottom of the iPhone 2G/3G and has enough juice to recharge the phone fully and then some -– or so they say. My Mophie charger claimed to do the same thing, and although I love it, I’ve never gotten a complete 100% charge out of it. I’ve had about three weeks with this battery now, and it’s been with me pretty much everywhere (since it’s so pocketable) and am ready to share all the impressions…after the jump.

Review: OtterBox Impact for iPhone 3G
Posted by: Brandon Steili on Dec 04 2008 - 55 viewsSo just over a month ago our friends at OtterBox took a huge step and released something that isn’t quite tough enough to protect your iPhone 3G from getting rolled over by a car, hit by a truck, or dumped into a raging river - but tough enough to protect your iPhone from life’s daily battles and still look and feel great doing it. OtterBox is known for tough. They aren’t known for smexy, they aren’t known for girly, they sure as heck aren’t known for making cases that include anything that might resemble stylish. They are known for tough. Take a look at this clip from their “About Us Page”
Our cases are dedicated to all the klutzy, spontaneous, chaotic, graceless individuals who have broken a device or valuable due to their active lifestyle. Like our customers, we’ve been there too!
So naturally I was a bit surprised when they announced the Impact series. I mean come on - something that promises to not be just as thick as your iPhone, soft, and yet still tough enough to bear the OtterBox name? That sounds like it might be pushing the limits of technology there. So how did they do? Read on…

Brothers in Arms Comes to the iPhone
Posted by: Brandon Steili on Dec 02 2008 - 17 viewsThat’s right, while some of you were sleeping last night one of the most anticipated games of the season hit the app store. Unfortunately I found out a few minutes before I went to bed so I only had time to play through the first training level, but let me tell you - so far the game definitely looks incredible and looks like its going to be a lot of fun. I’ve attached a couple screenshots from my iPhone below -
So, Gameloft - can I please get some Counter-Strike on my iPhone soon?!

Stay tuned for the review - coming as soon as I figure out how to get the drool off of my screen!

Review: Proporta iPod 2G Aluminum Lined Leather Case
Posted by: Ragart on Nov 30 2008 - 61 viewsHot on the heels of the Thanksgiving sales comes JAMM’s (I’d say lightning, but that’s a Gizmodo trademark) review of yet another Proportan offering. Yes, I made the name into an adjective.
The 2G iPod Touch in my house was cold and alone after being purchased, but that all ended when Proporta kindly shipped me an aluminum (or aluminium) lined leather case from across “the pond”. The case has covered my device in leather and protected the screen with a sheet of aluminum. This review is the story of their relationship. So hit the jump to see how well this Cupertino computer got along with the enclosure from England (oh god, that was lame).

Quick Look: Saisuke Puts Your Google Calendar On Your iPhone
Posted by: dgoldring on Nov 27 2008 - 285 viewsNot long ago, I pretty much jumped into Cloud computing and never looked back. While I still like Outlook 2007, I found it was starting to run slower on my Vista machine; and I could only access my calendar from one location. Since the majority of my day is spent using computers other than my home laptop, this was beginning to become an unworkable situation. So, I switched my calendar to Google Calendar. I am a huge fan of the Google applications, and this was a fantastic way to track my schedule from anywhere. Now, it does not matter if I am at home, travelling with my Wind, at work, or even at a friend’s house – I can check it, and add new items from anywhere.
Of course, the inevitable problem soon arose. How do I close the loop and sync my Google calendar with my mobile device? I quickly found several solutions for Windows Mobile, but when I got my iPod Touch, I found all of the same problems recurring. And none of the solutions I had found for Windows Mobile were available. Until, that is, I discovered Saisuke.
