Review: Sena Cases Leatherskin Case for iPod Touch

One of the first things I noticed about my iPod Touch was that nice smooth metal that covers the back.  It adds an inadvertent feature by creating a nice reflective surface.  Now, you can enjoy your favorite games, programs, and tunes on the front, and just flip it over for a mirrored surface you can use to adjust your tie or fix your makeup.  Perfect.  Well, perfect that is, until you start touching the iPod Touch.  Then, you realize that the Touch is not so…touchy.  Or maybe it is a little too touchy.  Because the next thing you will realize is that reflective surface is also magnetic…fingerprint magnetic.  Before long, that nice mirrored surface is going to be a mess of dirt and smudges.  Forget admiring your new glasses and haircut in that reflective surface.  You need to cover it…and fast!  Enter Sena cases, with their Leatherskin case, offering both fantastic functionality and an extremely attractive cover for that already dirt and fingerprint smudged device.

QuickLook: Cricket Laptop Stand [review]

I’ve been sitting on this one for a while now and figured it was just about time to finally get it off my plate. I feel bad when stuff like this happens, because its not so much a fault of the product, but a fault of my own. Sometimes you just dread sitting down and writing a review about something. I’m not sure why it happens, but the Cricket Laptop Stand was definitely one of the ones that whooped my butt. So without further ado, here’s the much shorter than it should be quick look at the Cricket - one of last year’s top products demo’d at CES.

Straight out of the box you can see what makes the cricket different from most other laptop stands on the market - and NO it’s not that neon green color that threatens to blind you with brightness on a hot sunny day, it’s the extreme portability of the Cricket. This little stand is literally no longer than my hand and only about 2 inches wide when its folded up. If you’re mobile - there’s pretty much nowhere you can’t tote this thing around with you.

Review: Sony Ericsson HBH-DS220 Stereo Bluetooth Headset

Before we jump into this review, let’s try and set aside all the problems we might have with Bluetooth and its software implementations. Forget the fact that the iPhone doesn’t really support it well, or that it can drain your battery like a leech on blood pudding. Let’s think about how limited a lot of the hardware is. You’ve got your Plantronics 590A or your Etymotic ety8’s, but both these solutions lock you into a certain kind of form factor. They’re earbuds that you can’t change, or they’re big headphones that can be cumbersome to tuck away when not in use.

Review: Flipping for the Sena Case for Centro

I got my Palm Centro in April, and ever since then it has spent most of its time bumping around in a side pocket inside my purse. Usually I have my new gadgets safely wrapped up in cases almost as soon as I get them home, but I just couldn’t find anything I could convince myself to live with. My adorable little Centro has basically been protected by a pair of crossed fingers, and I’m lucky it isn’t as scratched up as an extra from Jurassic Park.

Then someone suggested I check out Sena Cases. They make two cases for the Centro, the LeatherSkin and the MagnetFlipper, and they were kind enough to send me a review sample of the second.

If I was a casemaker, the Centro’s distinctive styling, truckload of buttons and ports, and chunky dimensions would send me screaming into the distance. Fortunately Sena reacted better. They pride themselves on beautiful leather, meticulous craftsmanship, and a slim profile, but to make a good Centro case they’d have to hit more home runs than a doped-up Barry Bonds.
