Review: USBFever iPod Wired Remote Control
Posted by: Ragart on Aug 21 2008 - 36 viewsI used to carry a camera/mp3 player around in a fanny pack during my high school days. The player had play, power, and prev/next track buttons that I could feel through the lining of the pouch, so it was like my awesome grade 10 utility belt of entertainment, and I thought it was the coolest (read: ridiculously dorky) solution I’d ever thought up. Ever since then I’ve been pretty obsessed with the idea of having my device’s hardware buttons accessible at about belt level.
This brings me to the USBFever iPod Remote — one of the most exciting things I’ve seen in USBFever’s catalogue as of late. The device promises to make up for one of the major drawbacks of the iPod Touch: the lack of any hardware playback buttons. It can be easy to forget about this small detail amongst all the cool new features (wooooah web surfing!), but it’s something that’ll eventually creep up on you after years of CD Player/Sansa/Creative Zen/iPod use. You reach down to pause on your iPod Touch and realize…hey, what gives?!

Review: Ultimate Ears super.fi 4vi
Posted by: danc on Aug 20 2008 - 107 views
Question: What do Scotch, Cars and Headphones have in common?
Answer: Once you get a taste of the good stuff it’s hard to go back.
Yup, once you taste The Macallen 25, Johnny Walker Red will never again pass your lips.
Once you drive a Lexus, you might sooner walk than ride in a Yugo.
And once you try the Ultimate Ears super.fi 4vi earbuds the stock earphones that shipped with your mp3 player will be collecting dust in the drawer.
The super.fi 4vi are the ultimate for listening to music. These are, without a doubt, the most comfortable and among the best sounding headphones I’ve ever used. With one exception, they are truly the ultimate in earbuds. Let’s take a quick look at them. Read more »

Review: Plantronics 370 Headset Gets Down and Dirty
Posted by: weiganla on Aug 11 2008 - 36 views
Just thinking about it offhand, you might doubt whether a normal person needs a Bluetooth headset with military-grade ruggedization. It’s not like the average Joe abuses his headset with dirt, water, and shock every day, you say.
Have you looked around lately?
I’m not a slob, but I am a complete klutz. I never felt comfortable carrying my last Bluetooth headset, a Plantronics Voyager 510, on the road because I was afraid the delicate microphone would get squashed. Or dropped. Or knocked into the middle of the only puddle in the tri-state area. When it comes to electronics, I’m a firm believer in Murphy’s Law.
So when I was offered the chance to take a look at the ruggedized Plantronics Explorer 370, I jumped at it. I was also eager to see if this headset improved on some of my quibbles with my last headset, like noise cancellation, transmission volume, and structural design.
Read on to see how the 370 measures up!

Review: Brando Metal Case Is Serious Centro Protection
Posted by: weiganla on Aug 08 2008 - 38 views
The Palm Centro is a terrific phone, but that doesn’t mean it can take a swan dive off a third-floor balcony and live to SMS another day. And let’s not even think about all the scratches on the body and screen that magically appear like dust bunnies. So when I get a new device, one of the first things I do is start hunting for a case.
You can find leather, silicone, and plastic “crystal” cases easily enough, but if you’re really gung-ho about protecting your device, it’s tough to match the strength and durability of a metal case. Brando Workshop, a longtime favorite of Palm owners, makes an aluminium (hey, they’re British) case for the Centro designed to keep your phone safe, usable, and looking good.
Is Brando’s metal case more like the Iron Man suit or a tinfoil hat? Read on to find out!

Review: Proporta Crystal Case for Eee PC 700 Series
Posted by: tjchan on Aug 05 2008 - 34 views
Selling laptops, one of the things that one can’t stress enough is protection. Of course, there is extended warranties which handle anything from parts and labor to full coverage accidental but the absolute bare minimum that any customer should walk out the door with (if they don’t have one) is a case! Cases come in a variety of shapes and sizes and styles and certainly some are more fashionable then others.
Today we’ll be talking about Proporta’s Crystal Case for the Eee PC 700 series, a case whose design functions exactly like a TechShell for Apple’s Macbook. It provides excellent protection from scratches and dust and scores high on the Geek-o-meter for style.

Review- Sena Cases’ WalletSkin for iPhone 3G
Posted by: danc on Aug 05 2008 - 274 views
An old joke begins, “What’s the most difficult thing about comedy?”… and without waiting for an answer, “…timing.” (Okay, so the joke doesn’t translate into text all that well but the point is the same… in comedy and in life timing matters.)
I had a good bit of luck with regard to timing this morning. Let me explain-
Yesterday, on my way home from vacation, I picked up my iPhone 3G. I got smart this time. Before using it even once I put an InvisibleShield protector on it. After all, with its plastic back, the 3G is a bit more delicate than the first generation iPhone. Still, even with the skin on it, I like carrying my iPhone in a case. Problem is… the changes to the device from one generation to the next that my numerous iPhone cases no longer work. This is where the good timing comes in. Read more »
