Eee PC Envy, is your Drive Big Enough!
Posted by: Peter Murphy on Oct 11 2008 - 20 viewsOne of the things that put me off getting a netbook, was storage, will it be big enough to do what I want to do with it? Will it provide satisfaction?
a lot of the earlier EeePc models, offered limited SSD storage, which leaves you dependent on memory card expansion, for a real storage solution.
Well now there’s a real Viagra solution for your EEEPC that wont get you the little finger flip, and will up your size for a reasonable price as well!
These drives will come in 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB capacities, selling for $53, $79, and $149 respectively. They will offer a maximum read speed of 40 MB/sec. and a maximum write speed of 15 MB/sec.
Unlike some other NetBooks, you can upgrade a Eee without voiding your warranty.
Increase the Storage Capacity of an Eee PC to 64 GB

Review: Sony Reader PRS-505. Why I May Never Buy Another Book Again
Posted by: dgoldring on Oct 11 2008 - 93 views
There. I said it. after using this ebook reader for only a few days, I have already decided to phase out paper and ink books. This is no rash decision, mind you. I am an avid book lover. I have shelves in every room in the house, boxes of books in the basement. Add to that the fact I have spent the last few years decrying ebooks: there is no unified format, the screens are not good for reading, the screens are too small, the list goes on. So, I admit to being a bit apprehensive about trying this one. My apprehension, however, quickly turned to delight as I found that every concern I had previously raised was addressed in here. It is light, easy to read, and the library is enormous. But I am getting ahead of myself.

Listen To This! The Great JAMM Portable Media Player Showdown. Part 1: Introduction
Posted by: dgoldring on Oct 10 2008 - 85 viewsI have spent a considerable amount of time here at JAMM, and also at Gear Diary, reviewing portable media players. One thing I have noticed is that a stand-alone review is really not the best format to help users answer the real question on everyone’s mind: which one should I buy? While a review is nice, it looks at a particular media player in a vacuum. The missing piece in the review is how this one compares to the others. And that is what I want to try to accomplish through this series.
So, in addition to the Sandisk Sansa View, which I already own, I went on eBay and gobbled up a Microsoft Zune, Samsung YP-P2, and Creative Zen X-Fi. Heck, I even got the Sony Walkman A828 back on an extended loan. After considerable thought, I also replaced my iPod Touch with the new fourth generation iPod Nano for this series.

ezGear releases ezView case for iPhone 3G
Posted by: Ragart on Oct 10 2008 - 4 viewsezGear has just announced its new book-style leather case for the 3G. The claim here is that it isn’t just any old book case, but that it packs 12 features into one package.
1. High Grade Leather
2. Complete access to the screen
3. Home Button Access
4. Build in Stand
5. Protective cover with velcro closure
6. Credit Card/Business Card Slots
7. Top and Bottomaccess to allcontrols and Ports
8. Sturdy Velcro Latch
9. Ultra-Slim Profile
10. Removablespring loaded Belt Clip
11. Non-skid Low Profile Rubber Feet Keep Your Player in Place
12. View hole for your iPhone Camera
The case certainly looks good enough, but the concept of 12 features might be just a bit of a stretch, especially since most any decent case you can find will have something like home button access. One extra thing the case does have going for it is affordability (it’s a good $20 cheaper than a Sena case I’m looking at). The case is available in black and is actually being offered at an introductory price of $32.99.

Windows 7 for Free… Well some pain included!
Posted by: Peter Murphy on Oct 09 2008 - 36 viewsEveryone’s waiting for the new version of Windows to emerge, and hoping it will erase the Vista fiasco, as XP did to ME. Recently it came to light that if you attended certain conferences, you would go home with an advance copy of the operating system.
Who isn’t ready for Windows 7? That wiser, stabler, more streamlined OS with Vista’s good looks but an even prettier Start button and an alleged 15-second boot time? Heck, even Bill Gates is excited to get on to the next version. You can get your hands on a “pre-beta” version of Windows 7 by attending the Professional Developer Conference (PDC) in LA October 27 to 30, or the Windows Hardware Engineering Conference (WinHEC), also in LA shortly after, from November 5 to 7. Go get them, and then report back to us with some new info. [Vista Blog;]
So if you’re available, and have the connections, you can get your Windows Fix. Although what sort of fix it is I can’t say, cool or retro, I am really hoping that there’s a light at the end of this tunnel.
Whether this be an alpha or beta, it’s going to be a coup for Microsoft, but will the OS live up to the hype? With the advent of the “netbook” and a move by Apple to run one OS on all of it’s devices, will Windows 7 be the Windows Lite that has been rumoured. A Microsoft OS with a much more efficient and compact core. I suppose we’ll find out next month, but if you had the next big thing, how would you present it. I hope this is an example of how not to do it!
Will a corny video be the herald of the newest Windows OS? click the image above to go to the you tube page. Microsoft’s not really calling us all Kevin Bacon wannabe’s!

Review: Spb Online
Posted by: tjchan on Oct 08 2008 - 73 views
Spb Online is a program that offers users an online experience by linking them to all sources of information - from live streaming video and audio, to RSS news feeds and weather, Spb Online is perfect for those getting started into the Windows Mobile experience. Granted there are many programs out there that do similar things, but Spb has combined some of the best tools in a sleek package with transitions and touch drag interface that even mimics the iPhone. It even has online games (which can be purchased separately beginning today)! Let’s dig in and see if Spb Online is all that it claims to be.
