Now This Is Mobile Technology! part 22

nokiaFugly Most device users out there, whether it be an iPhone, a windows mobile, a Symbian, BlackBerry, Palm and the list is endless, when you consider all of the device manufacturers, would not really consider what goes into creating a great device, and it all comes down to personal preferences in the end, any way.

The process from design to end user has many stages, and let’s face it a lot of those stages are really alien to a lot of mobile users, actually, who cares?

NokiaBeauty Well, seemingly lot’s of device users, your personal device can weigh in as a status symbol, a fashion accessory or a powerful mobile computing solution. Someone artistic gets an idea, visualises something, and it’s on the drawing board and then gets created.  Sometimes fugly sometimes stunning, but there is always one process that has to be tested, day to day use. These guys seem to make an art out of stress testing mobile devices, there’s Gadget Geek, and now there’s well gadget geek sub-menus, and these testers fit into one of those sub-menus.

Not inferring anything, but these guys may need some therapy!

Now This Is Mobile Technology! part 21

Funny for me to think that this series of posts started off with a very similair idea, clothing that turned the kinetic energy of your personal movement into power that could be transferred to a device. The comparison I used was an automatic watch. A mechanical device that is self powered through the movement of the wearer, and the device I’m featuring today, is conceptually the same. You carry it around, and it charges itself via your movement. Now I know everyone’s thinking I’m having some seventies hippy flashback, and going all green. In essence, it’s like wearing a pedometer, it measures your steps with the equivalent of an accelerometer, why not use the same tech to create power. Well it seems someone is finally catching on to these combined technologies…

Now This Is Mobile Technology! part 20

green tree frogThe new JAMM is a somewhat more eclectic place, we are trying to focus on more mobile platforms, as well as diverse iterations of what is uncommonly labled mobile tech. Recently Heather came up with an idea to cover green mobile technology.

When we say Green, we mean ecologically friendly, and her post about the earthdrive focused on sustainable/renewable resources.

So I thought  I’d wade into the swamp with an eco friendly Idea, what if your car resists your driving habit’s to save the environment?

Now This Is Mobile Technology! part 19

Now this is mobile tech In view of the recent changes to laws in the US, this seems a bit ironic to me, as amazing as it seems. Now I know there are plenty of apps out there that turn your WinMo device into a remote controller for say, your television, or stereo, and that seems rather appropriate. What if your mobile could control a projectile that can travel at high speed and weighs a ton? Far fetched you might say, well this concept somehow flaunts the “using your mobile phone whilst driving” law, and makes it impossible to avoid it. Look for a little Samsung loving in the video after the break.

Now This Is Mobile Technology! part 18

Mobility and mobile devices can really be diverse, from your favourite mode of transport, to the headphones you use with your media player on that transport. I’ve used this series of posts to try to encapsulate some of that variety, and don’t you know it keeps coming.

Since the Grand Second Birthday Relaunch, we at JAMM have actually been diversifying the content that we will cover.
And I’m offering the chance to contribute to this series, notify me if you find things that you think fit in this category.

Now This Is Mobile Technology! part17

We all know that water and electricity don’t mix, [well I hope we do] but a post today caught my eye and reminded me of a mobile solution that is supposed to help you beat the weather. I don’t think waterproofing your device is a priority, but it seems that others do. This is not a recent post, I found it ages ago, and it offered all of the anime charm that I love. most of us would happily accept a shower proof cover for our laptops, or in fact any of our devices, well here’s one.
ziploc

Even though the promotional photo’s look like this is safe, anyone notice the photochopped image on the left? I can’t see any water flowing there. Basically what we are looking at is a device in a sandwich bag. A Ziploc bag. So when something similair comes across your desk from a reputable supplier you do a double take.
