The Arcade! October Edition!
Posted by: Peter Murphy on Oct 28 2008 - 26 viewsI never know where Doug finds the time to play all of these games, but somehow he manages to collect an impressive amount every month, for his Arcade series.
At this point in time though, it might be fortuitous to offer a link to a little self analysis survey, that may help more than one of us! Do check out Doug’s article at MyTodayScreen as well

WOZisode: The Adventures of ScotteVest
Posted by: dgoldring on Oct 23 2008 - 15 viewsOK. So this is not exactly a galaxy far, far away (though it is Idaho). And it only occurred a few days ago, which may be long, long ago to some. But for those of you who missed it, Scott Jordan, the president of Scottevest has produced a series of spoof videos advertising his amazing technology clothing. For extra kicks, all of the videos star Steve Wozniak (yes, THAT Steve Wozniak).
Maybe I just have a warped sense of humor, but I thought these videos were hilarious…in a cheezy sort of way. Check them out and see if you agree. And then head on over to ScotteVest to check out their amazing selection of TEC hats, shirts, jackets, pants, and more…

DOTS Gloves for your touchscreen device!
Posted by: Ragart on Oct 23 2008 - 11 views
So it snowed for the first time this winter and it got a heckuva lot colder. When it gets to be this frigid, one of the really annoying things is trying to use your bloody phone while your digits are freezing and become sticks that are simply stuck to your hand. So I kinda like the idea of these DOTS gloves with these small little nubs at the end of the thumb and index finger so you can control your device even in the dead of winter (they work with the iPhone/iPod Touch, too!).
They cost $15-20 and are available here.

What’s the Most Popular Phone For Web Browsing?
Posted by: Peter Murphy on Oct 17 2008 - 18 views
Lot’s of companies track, Internet usage from mobile phones, and incredibly the statistics show that Symbian/Linux based phones are the most used for net access. This may be surprising to most people, but seriously, if you think about it, Nokia’s phones seem to rule the handset market.
With service providers prepared to subsidise handsets on contracts, and most people’s need to save money, a lot of the non windows mobile, iPhone, models have been the norm for mobile phone preferences of the masses. Therefore you would not be surprised that the most popular, most used, phones used for internet browsing belong to the Motorola Razor family.
This statistic is pretty interesting: Not only does the Motorola (NYSE: MOT) Razr continue to outsell the Apple iPhone, more people are using it to access to the mobile Web. So says AdMob, anyway, in a report of the ad impressions it gets from each handset across the 5,000-plus sites it serves.
AdMob releases a report each month about the mobile advertising space. The company has been providing statistics on mobile ads since September 2007. This month’s report sheds some interesting light on which phones are surfing the mobile Web the most. It ain’t the iPhone. In fact, the iPhone isn’t even in second place
With the advanced browsers available on the iPhone and windows mobile, it sort of seems odd, but then again, I’ve got a really simple samsung phone, with opera mini installed, and I do actually use it quite a bit for essentials, checking email, checking JAMM, and also going through my Google reader feeds. The fact that the Razr is still featuring so prominently in the mobile arena is probably the most surprising fact that comes out of this though.

Rogers ripping customer (limbs) off
Posted by: Ragart on Oct 12 2008 - 17 views
Take a look at Rogers mobile plans for Canadian iPhone 3G users and you’ll probably think: what a rip-off! Well, one of our Canadian funnies (yes, we have them too!), “This hour has 22 minutes”, took this phrase literally and has conducted interviews with customers who have actually had their arms ripped off as part of the contract. Before I link to the video I’d also like to remind everyone that Rogers contracts are three years (which is conveniently the time it takes for a Canadian adult to grow a new limb…).
Check it out: iPhone costs an arm…

LinkLove: Samsung Omnia reviewed at WMExperts
Posted by: Ragart on Oct 09 2008 - 26 views

Samsung’s latest attempt at a slick touchscreen device is the Omnia. The phone looks good, but I’m not sure why they killed so much real estate with that huge border around the screen.
As is the trend nowadays, it has got its own today plugin to give a Vista widget-y kinda feel to the device. The verdict is that the widgets seem cool, but aren’t all that useful. But I won’t steal their thunder – why don’t you go see for yourself?
