Boxwave Designio Leather Sleeve™ - BlackBerry Curve Review

Posted by: Steve Laser on Sep 06 2007 - 1,136 views

The Blackberry Curve is undoubtedly one of the slickest devices to come out of Canada.  I had a chance to test drive one and was impressed with its simple user interface, it’s easy to use qwerty keyboard, and nice screen.  As a Nextel user, I’m not used to the modern phone conveniences, like syncing email, going online and actually having a decent sized screen to look at, and using your phone for more than calling people.  The first thing I did when I received the unit was go online while I was driving.  It was so simple.  The track ball makes navigating the screen simple.  What a joy!

The first thing I thought of when I started using this marvelous phone, was, “I can’t use it naked!”  This is a gorgeous phone that I want to show off.  I want to protect it.  I want others to covet it.  That’s where Boxwave stepped in with their excellent Designio Leather Sleeve.

Microsoft is making available free software via the internet that connects to its Windows OS.  This is referred to as Cloud Computing.  Microsoft is using this strategy to compete with internet giant Google.  Google has a commanding lead.  They have a friendly reputation and offer such highly praised services as Google mail with its generous storage, Google search, which is the Kleenex of search, and now they even have Google Documents and Spreadsheets, which is a superb and FREE, online word processor and spreadsheet program.  But there is more.  Google calendar can be shared among several colleagues, Google maps is very useful, uh, well, you get the idea.

Alu-Leather Goodness

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketProporta’s beautiful Alu-Leather case fits my HP iPaq HW 6925 like a glove - a glove with airplane grade aluminum underneath its handcrafted, high quality leather. The first thing I noticed when I took it out of the package was the smell of leather wafting in the air.

Popular Mechanics Reviews the Creative Zen

Posted by: Steve Laser on Aug 29 2007 - 480 views

Yesterday Weiganla posted that Amazon had the new Creative Zen for sale and that the starting price for the 4 GB model was a whopping $299, and the 16 GB model was $499.  Both NoWire and I read on Engadget and Popular Mechanics (the review) that the prices were supposed to be $150, $200 and $300 for the 4 GB, 8 GB and 16 GB respectively.  Since then, Amazon pulled the preorder pricing.   Something strange is afoot.  More coming after the break.

A Week With the BlueAnt X3 Bluetooth Headset

Posted by: Steve Laser on Aug 28 2007 - 1,616 views

You may remember my earlier post about the Bluetooth BlueAnt X3 headset in which I raved about the compact size, the large buttons, the ease of use, the fact that it came with a wall charger and a car charger and how excited I was to get a new gadget.

So did I like this unit?  Was it all I expected?  How does it compare to my other headset, the Motorola H500?  Read on after the break…

When Technology Advances Are Not

Posted by: Steve Laser on Aug 28 2007 - 444 views

I’ve had my Dell Axim x50v running wm2003se for 2 1/2 years.  I carry it everywhere.  It has all my contacts, notes, software, games, gps, login information (wallet software w/all my passwords) and everything I need to keep up in business and enjoy family life.  I also carry a World War II style Nextel i580 Motorola phone for work.  It doesn’t get me on the internet, it has a small screen, but it’s rugged, durable and has that push to talk feature that drives the ladies wild.  And until a few days ago, I had a desktop computer.
