Review: FlexMail 4.0: Pump Up Your Productivity
Posted by: ssschmidt on Jul 05 2008 - 302 viewsAccording to Merriam-Webster:
con·nec·tiv·i·ty : the quality, state, or capability of being connective or connected <connectivity of a surface>; especially : the ability to connect to or communicate with another computer or computer system
Connectivity. That is the buzz word in use these days. In many career environments, the ability to be "connected" is directly proportional to success.
A corporate executive is informed of a change in a meeting time. A reporter receives a hot tip on a story. A technician receives a service call. An IT System Administrator is notified of a server problem. A notification of severe weather. Parcel delivery notification. Pick up bread on the way home. Cheerleading practice is over.
A few examples of important things that being connected can do for you. Initially, Research In Motion’s (RIM) Blackberry was the way to go. Not to be outdone, Micro$oft rolls out "Direct Push". Now your email can follow you everywhere. But how can you access your information?… What tools can you use?… In the Windows Mobile community, you have Pocket Outlook. But what if you want greater control? FlexMail 4 from WebIS may be the answer you are looking for.

Review: gpik™ super thumb stylus
Posted by: ssschmidt on Jul 05 2008 - 115 views
Touch screen devices. Wonderful things. But the search for the perfect input method is long and frustrating.
Styluses are great, but the ones that come in most devices are very small and difficult to use for a long period.
Pens with stylus tips are better for lengthy use, but carrying one for just the stylus adds to your pocket. Or the pen is rather large.
Then there’s the finger. Many software input alternatives are available, but they all result in a screen with fingerprints.
Here’s a new product from Gordon Adkins: the gpik™. Read on for more.

In the mood for something suite?
Posted by: ssschmidt on May 27 2008 - 470 viewsMay I present for your tasting pleasure, The iWindowsMobile Communication Suite
Ever been walking along and decide to make a quick call, and you have to drag out the silly non writing pen just to find the person’s number?. Or, your phone beeps, you have a text message and want to respond, and then realize (shudder) that your stylus is gone?
Windows Mobile Professional Devices (Touch Screen) are moving more toward finger friendly every day. Sometimes it just isn’t convenient to drag out the stylus. So what do you do?
Recipe:
- Start with a WM Professional Device.
- Add in equal parts: Goodwin, Fun Contact, SMS-Chat, and Zoomboard.
- Do Not Shake or Stir.
Now for the taste test. And you even get to use your fingers.

Blogging to go : MoBlog
Posted by: ssschmidt on May 15 2008 - 430 viewsIn a previous article, I wrote about LiveJournal, and LJ Mobile. But not everyone has (or wants) a LJ Blog. Some people are happy with Wordpress, Blogger, or Live Spaces. So, thanks to Sampath Dassanayake (Web site), there is a (FREE) mobile alternative for the above 3 blogging platforms.
From the developer’s web site:
moBlog is a .NET Compact Framework (.NETCF) 2.0 dependent application. Hence you will need to have .NETCF 2.0, which is a free download from Microsoft installed on your device. It will work on any Windows Mobile 2003 / Windows Mobile 5.0 (WM5) / Windows Mobile 6.0 (WM6) devices.
MoBlog supports both WM Professional (Touch screen), and Standard (Non-touch screen).
Does your device have what it takes? Sound interesting? See you on the next page.

To Blog, or not to Blog.
Posted by: ssschmidt on May 14 2008 - 410 viewsThe numbers are staggering. Blogs are everywhere. What did I do today. Where am I going. Where did I hide the body…… Needless to say, you will find people blogging about EVERYTHING. There are many different services available. Some are free, some aren’t. But when you are on the move, how can you post the rant that’s been building all day long?
I know there are many blog sites / services. I’m picking one to talk about. Live Journal. But wait. This is Just Another Mobile Monday!.. This is supposed to be about Mobile stuff. Enter "Six Apart Live Journal Mobile".
