Posted by: Peter on Jul 19 2008 - 41 views

Thanks to Wayne over at Gear Diary for the heads up on the Official Update to Windows Mobile 6.1 for the
Mogul. I’m always looking for news like this to share with you guys. I know one person who is probably a happy camper, and spending most of his night reloading all of his apps because of the update.
Obviously there are a few new things included, like updated internet explorer, and a dedicated Task Manager.
1. Upgrades the operating system from Windows Mobile® 6.0 Professional to Windows Mobile® 6.1 Professional
2. Adds Sprint TV
3. Includes all enhancements incorporated in previous software upgrades including:– EV-DO Rev. A functionality for faster download and upload speeds when utilizing data services wherever EV-DO Rev. A coverage is available.
– Advanced GPS functionality including the Sprint Navigation application.
- Adds a Task Manager to the Today screen for easier access and management of running programs.
Get ready, backup, and reinstall the rom, and restore, the OS is a real upgrade!

Ilium Software eWallet for iPhone Hits the App Store.
Posted by: Peter on Jul 19 2008 - 37 viewsOur friends at Ilium have been lamenting the time it has taken to get their eWallet program for iPhone up and available at the store. Well I’ll bet they’re partying now, as it’s available now.
As Lauren told us the other day, eWallet had been trapped in App Store purgatory, well it seems they’ve now been cleared for App Store Heaven.
Some of us Windows Mobile users think it shouldn’t have been shared with those smarmy Apple guys, cause it’s one hell of a program, and they’ve gloated enough. Good on Ilium though, as most of us here at JAMM will attest, they make qualty software. So good in fact that three of their programs made it into the JAMM Essentials list for 2008.
So now we have to share the love, and congratulate Ilium on their foray, however frustrating for them, into the iPhone market. I wonder which of their apps will get the fruity makeover next? Which would you most like to see in the app store?

New Sony Ericsson Walkman Phone?
Posted by: Peter on Jul 18 2008 - 10 viewsAre you a Walkman fan with nothing to do for three days, or is tedium just your thing? Well, I’ve got a deal for you. You can watch the clock count down at this site and refresh your knowledge of the evolution of the Walkman phone whilst listening to a cheesy soundtrack.
I hate these sorts of promos. Somehow companies think we have time to waste and are vacuous enough to sit around and watch a clock countdown timer. So there’s a new Walkman phone available, but who has the time to watch a countdown like this?
No one, is the answer. Doesn’t anyone learn from Apple’s iPhone strategy: leak it, don’t try to preview it!

Opera Mobile 9.5 Beta, Now available!
Posted by: Peter on Jul 17 2008 - 23 viewsEarlier in the year I had a look at the Opera 9.5 Beta, though it was not official, and I was excited, now I’m sounding like some late night telemarketer, but this is exciting. I’ve been waiting for the release of the real Beta of opera 9.5 for mobile and it’s downloading as I type this.
I am so looking forward to browsing with this tomorrow, but I wonder if Opera can establish a world record for downloads with this most anticipated Beta.
You can Download the Beta Here

Quick Look, NFB Widgets!
Posted by: Peter on Jul 16 2008 - 63 views
What’s a Widget? Is it like a thing-a-me-bob?
widg·et (w
j
t)
n.
1. A small mechanical device or control; a gadget.
2. An unnamed or hypothetical manufactured article.
[Perhaps alteration of gadget.]
When I posted about Access’s new addition to the Netfront family I didn’t think I’d be brought to my knees by a widget. We are all familiar with widgets with our desktop browsers, but the addition of dedicated widgets to a Windows Mobile browser seemed like a novelty. Well it’s not a novelty, and it’s not even funny. The base application installs on it’s own then you add widgets, like modules, to the base application. You can add weather, news, world time, whatever widgets are available now.

iWindowsMobile Communication Suite gets a Winterface Lift!
Posted by: Peter on Jul 14 2008 - 36 views
Just got an email in from Konstantin over at Vito Technology, to let us all know that the iWindowsMobile Communication Suite is receiving a facelift, a Winterface lift.
iWindowsMobile Communication Suite now to Include Winterface
Special offer for SPB Mobile Shell users
July 14, 2008 - VITO Technology releases iWindowsMobile Communication Suite v 1.05. The Suite contains #1 finger-friendly contact manager FunContact, unique texting application SMS-Chat, zooming onscreen keyboard ZoomBoard, and now outstanding mobile shell Winterface instead of GoodWin! The price is $39.95, not $70 when purchasing separately.
It’s a great deal, you’ve got to admit that, I’m not sure I can give up my mobile shell though. Doug had a look at Winterface, and Thomas cracked open the suite, so you can judge for yourselves, is this for you?
