Alright, so Palm is shipping the Treo Pro now. End of news story. If you need more (it’s $549) click on through to Engadget for more. Now let’s get on the real reason I’m posting this:

ATTENTION PALM. Please don’t make me beg. I want one. I really do - but I’ve got this whole Apple iPhone problem. And it really is a problem. You see I bought the 3G upgrade a couple months ago so even if there is a contract price for the Pro through AT&T soon I can’t get it. And there’s no chance in heck that my wife is going to let me drop another $500+ on a new phone. So you see I have a problem. I really want to use the Treo Pro … but I can’t.

So, Palm - here’s your chance to bring me back into the fold and turn me back into a happy supporter. It’s super simple - send me a Treo Pro. I promise a review (no promises on glowing or not) - plenty of high resolution pictures taken with a DSLR and posted, and I promise all software reviews for the next few months at least will also include images and references to the Treo Pro… because I’ll be reviewing WinMo software and I have to use that software on something now don’t I?!

So, executive summary: Sending me a Treo Pro easily equates to a very high ROI. Multiple high resolution images of the device for people to see and use in their decision process, as well as multiple “re-advertising” images and device references posted over the coming months showing your device using the latest and greatest of Windows Mobile softwares.

Palm, Thank You in advance for your consideration

Governator kills texting while driving in Cali

Posted by: Brandon Steili on Sep 26 2008 - 13 views

Well finally someone realized that when you’re texting and driving you’re pretty much not looking at the road you’re driving on or the car in front of you. You might as well be drunk.

Insurers, bicyclists and cellphone companies backed the measure that Schwarzenegger signed Wednesday, as they did the ban on holding a cellphone while driving, which took effect July 1. The earlier law allows drivers to use cellphones only with hands-free devices such as headsets; another law prohibits drivers younger than 18 from using any kind of phone or texting device while behind the wheel.

“When somebody’s distracted,” said state Sen. Joe Simitian (D-Palo Alto), who wrote the new law, SB 28, and the earlier laws, “it puts not just the driver at risk but everybody else in the car and everybody else on the highway.”

So - if you were pissed off about the whole no talking without a hands free device in California, plan on having your day entirely ruined come January 1, 2009. Personally I wish this and the hands-free law was a federal mandate. Too many people in this country can’t drive worth a damn anyway … let alone when they think they can drive and talk/text at the same time. Truth hurts folks - I don’t care how well you think you can drive and text at the same time, you can’t. The multiple accidents per week I have to avoid because of people who try is proof of that fact.

Meet Sean Siler - The PC behind the PC

Posted by: Brandon Steili on Sep 25 2008 - 10 views

Hi. My name is Brandon and I’m a Mac. And a PC. And a Penguin? I guess I’m a penguin too… I don’t think they’ve determined a label for the Linux folks yet. Either way, I’m all three. I use a Mac at home and while I’m RedHat certified I actually spend a lot of my time working on Windows servers too.

So - Who are you?

T-Mobile G1 Guides Leak

Obviously some of you folks are excited. I mean how could you not be now that the Goog has finally given you a date when you can finally be free from your evil overlords (Microsoft or Apple - pick your overlord). I personally am not so excited, mainly because there’s some device limitations, it runs on T-Mo, plus I think they’ll learn a lot from this first generation and make serious changes for the second generation, but that’s just me.

Anyway, for those of you who just can’t wait and need something to drool over - Hit THIS LINK - which will take you to a couple PDF links for the quick start guide and maunal.

VideoView: Missile Command for iPhone

Posted by: Brandon Steili on Sep 25 2008 - 7 views

Alright, so just picked up a new game a VERY short while ago and thought I’d give you a look at what its like. Its pretty obvious in the video - but I haven’t spent a lot of time yet with the game. I will say though the price at roughly $5 is decent. You’ll end up spending a lot of time with the game - but it’ll be in 5 minute spans…

You can find Missile Command and a few other apps from Atari in the appstore.

WOW of the day - Celio REDFLY for $199!

Posted by: Brandon Steili on Sep 25 2008 - 24 views

Just saw this in my feeds - can’t believe the price! If I had the cash (and I unfortunately do not at the moment) this would be a must buy situation!

I wrote up my first thoughts of the Celio Corp REDFLY Mobile Companion back in March, then I bought my own in May and then the price dropped from US$499 to US$399.95 in August. Well, now you can pick this device up for only US$199.95 and IMHO that is a steal for anyone with a Windows Mobile device looking to be productive on the go. I understand this is a “seeding” price that is only good until 31 October and I guess the intent must be to get the device out there and have people talk it up.

So, without any further delay - head on over to The Mobile Gadgeteer and get you one heck of a deal!
