While I don’t use all 16GB I do use over 8 so it makes sense to have this big of a card. I use it to store music, videos, large mp3 files, GPS software, many apps that run of it, all of the apps I use backed up with registration info so I don’t have to have a pc to restore my phone, and office documents.
Well, this weekend the thing absolutely crashed on me with no obvious way to save my data. The data that is there is all in tact and able to be used, such as run apps installed on the card or access navigation maps, or even open documents that are saved to the card. It will not, however, let me change a file, move a file to the card, delete a file, or format the card.
All of these obstacles reared their ugly head as soon as I plugged the card into my Windows 7 flash drive. I still could do nothing with the files. Even using the mobile device center to sync the phone, I could not use it to copy or cut the files over to the pc.
So how did I turn this migraine into just an average headache? I bought a new card. That was just the first step. I found an A-DATA 16GB class 6 microSDHC for $59.99 at Amazon.com and because my phone is kind of useless for most of what I need it for I opted for one day shipping at $17.98, and because this all happened on Memorial Day weekend I have to wait till Wednesday to unlock the full potential of my PPC again. (This all could be remedied by swiping my wife’s 8GB card but won’t happen.)
Now the only way I was able to figure out to save my data….. You must use active-sync but only to your internal storage. I was able to copy, not cut, data from my external memory into my internal memory and then transfer it to my pc for backup via active-sync. I didn’t say this was easy but rather the only way that I was able to save my data. Time consuming to say the least because the data on my card that needed to be backed up was more than 8GB and the storage available to me on my internal memory is only 200MB. Good to know if you ever find yourself in this tight spot though.
Have you ever had this issue?
Did you remedy it or just give up?
Do you have any other advice for myself and others with memory card backup and recovery?

Here goes the brilliant minds behind JAMM coming up with a cool catch phrase for Microsoft’s Windows Phone.
We figured these where good enough to share will all our readers.
Apple has “there’s an app for that”
Android has “Droid does”
So what about Windows Phone?
Doug: “because we can… windows phone 7…not dead yet…”
Chris: “Windows Phone 7 Series – turning old and busted into new hotness… Eh. Maybe not…”
Timothy: “Windows Phone 7 – as perfect as Windows 7 – the way mobility was meant to be”
Heather: “WM7…just be happy its not WM Vista….“
Let us know which one you think is the best.

In case you missed it, T-Mobile re-released their HD2 ROM with the reasoning for the pull this time being bandwidth issues.
We had a user comment on what we Posted about the pulling of the ROM.
I have the upgrade running on my HD2 and it has gave me nothing but awesomeness, phone works a ton better then when it shipped and I have not had a single battery pull or reset since the update, visual voice mail working, no more text bug, and supper fast,”NO LAGG”,…So I have to say in my opinion the upgrade works wonders.
So it appears that all is well with the ROM, and no changes have been made to the build.
Let us know your thoughts on the new ROM, below.
The other day we posted about the Windows Mobile Office 2010 upgrade you can grab free from the Marketplace. Now Infosync has uploaded a promotional video that touts the 2010 Mobile productivity app as a pretty great app. As I said in previous post, I’m just not sure they really changed anything.
Check out the video over at WMPoweruser.com and let us know your thoughts on their commercial.
Will the complete saturation of the wireless spectrum by 2013 be cause for the end of the world? As many predictions are floating around about the doom of the Earth as we know it, is this one to fear also?
I doubt it. As with the other rumors there are just as many things to say against it as to say for it. Such as I see a lot of service providers stepping up their systems to 4G and higher and some of them struggling to make 3G a reality for their entire network.
I use AT&T and enjoy it for my smartphone uses. I don’t have 3G where I live but Edge is working pretty good because it doesn’t have issues with saturation yet. How long will this last? Who knows.
I do fear that they are way behind some of their competition that have had 3G across the US for a while now and are stepping it up to 4G at a good pace. I don’t see there coming a time when the lack of spectrum will cripple the advancement of our mobile signal hungry toys. I could be wrong but there always seems to be a new breakthrough when the situation arises. Time will tell and most likely the Government will “as always” have the perfect solution.
