NEXT????

JAMM told you last week that Blackberry would be unveiling a new operating system, tomorrow, Tuesday. I was a trifle flippant about saying they needed it and that they were no longer the darling of the Enterprise heap. Someone said I had a lot of nerve calling them has-beens, which I did not, BUT, low and behold, today The Nielsen Company published their findings on humanity’s phone preferences. Few surprises here; we all know the iPhone has been a barn burner for a while, Android has smacked everyone up side the head with their recent gains, and many Windows Mobile loyalists are holding their breath for WM7 (or whatever name will finally stick). Turns out RIM’s boat has been taking on water and actually declining in popularity, but I would never say I told you so (not very loud at least).

Here’s the thing, though. According to Nielsen, the surprises came when asking people what their NEXT purchase might be, and this is where we find out who plans to change dance partners. A ton. After the dust settles from the Android stampede, the Blackberry owners say they will lead the charge and go get something else. Look for yourself, but tomorrow’s OS6 announcement may either skew those predictions, or forever-after be referred to as Black(berry) Tuesday.

You do the math and tell JAMM what you think.
