Question of the Day: How Often Do you Upgrade Phones?

When using a GSM phone network, it was much easier to upgrade, so I would purchase an unlocked phone, swap SIM cards and be done.  Now that I’ve moved to a CDMA provider, the options became a lot more slim.  Nonetheless, I’m considering my first upgrade.  We’ll see if I actually bite the bullet, though.

What’s your experience with upgrades?  How often do you?

funny you should ask, I just called att and got an early upgrade after only 11 months using my htc fuz I am switching to the new samsung captivate.
I do not like the screen or browser on the fuze.

It averages to about just a little over 18 months. Like Dave here, I upgraded my customized Fuze to the Captivate. Only trouble is that there appears to be a bug in the Captivate’s camera hardware or software as there’s a small, irregular black set of pixels in the viewscreen and in resulting images. Looks like I’ll be heading back to the local AT&T store.

I’m a Verizon girl, so I only upgrade when I can get my bonus new every 2 money. This time I went longer since Verizon didn’t really have anything I wanted. I am now very happy with my HTC Incredible

When I was on AT&T, I would upgrade about once every 6-8 months (my 3 lines were on different schedules due to when I added the lines). Now with everone joining T-Mo at the same time, its going to be a bit longer, I think…

I talked to US Cellular last night. Looks like I would have to wait for 18 months into my contract. Might see if I can deal with a customer service rep in the store, or perhaps see if they have a returned model. I mostly want one just to have something different, as like Chris when I was with AT&T it wasn’t much to buy a phone and pop in the SIM.

which is another reason why I chose T-Mo over VzW or Sprint… (or US Cellular, they’re a VzW regional partner). Swapping phones on a CDMA network isn’t easy; and VzW doesn’t allow you to do that on a whim (whereas with AT&T or T-Mo, you can do it as often as you like…)

I loves me some SIM…

Just sayin’…
