Summer’s full in swing! How is everyone doing with their summer book lists? Oh, well, you don’t have to be a student to be reading in the summer. And no, it’s not always about school / college work. What about reading for some fun? Yes – you heard me…for fun! Well Audible will be giving you something to listen to if you don’t want to just cuddle up with a good book as you can now have that good book be read aloud to you. 45 titles in all with many being unabridged such as The Winnie-the-Pooh Collection, The Next 100 Years, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, The Great Gatsby (yes, required reading for some of you), you’ll get the option of choosing any one book you want – no credit card required! Just sign up for an Audible account when you checkout with your free book and load it onto your favorite audio player (maybe an iPod?) and you are ready to listen to great books.
Which book will you take? Decisions, decisions…..

What good is a party without people? Back in the days of Windows 3.1, people actually had parties for such events and people flocked to actually see the latest in Microsoft technology. Now, with millions of on marketing we see the KIN in Movement 2010 Electronic Music Festival in Detroit, USA to be well…almost a ghost town according to MS Mobiles. The KIN phones which Microsoft is pushing is a closed to development allowing no 3rd party apps. WHAT?! Yes, you heard that right…no apps. What is wrong with you Microsoft? When you open up a platform for development, you not only create a spark which people will grab on to, but they will actually build your market for you. Look at Apple, they have how many apps? People even pay Apple to develop free apps with that $100 a year developer’s fee – which is no chump change. Let’s look also at features – people are lining up with around 77% of the market being people who want to upgrade their phones to the iPhone 4 with 90% citing the main reason to be for the new features (ZDNet). Apple listens to people and the people go crazy to buy. Simple rules of customer service and development – give the people what they want, support them well, and they’ll be your customers for life.
According to Gizmodo, iOS 4.01 will be released on Monday. The iOS update is said to resolve issues regarding reception where if the iPhone is held a certain way, the device reports “no service” rather than switching to the frequency with the best signal to noise ratio”. I have no problems with my iPod Touch as it doesn’t have any cellular antennas in there. I’m thinking that when it’s time to update, it’s probably again better to backup, upgrade, and resync the iPhone rather than just doing a straight up upgrade. When it’s time to run the update, it would probably be best to be connected to a system with a battery like a laptop or a desktop with a battery backup. The last thing you’d want is for a power fluctuation to occur in the middle of the iOS update. We’ll see when Monday rolls around whether or not people will get their reception fixed.
