Quickoffice Connect Mobile Suite HD Brings Mobile Document Management To The iPad

Anyone who has ever tried to work with documents or spreadsheets on a mobile device knows the name QuickOffice. In fact, it was one of the apps I was surprised not to find in the app store from Day 1. I have used QuickOffice on a variety of mobile platforms, and it has always been among the best apps available. So, I was pretty excited earlier this week to find the below announcement. Quickoffice finally made its way to the iPad, and now I can see why they waited. They really nailed this one, straight out of the park. What is really cool here is that Quickoffice has not just been ported from other platforms to the iPad. They really went all out, rebuilding the app from the ground up. Keep reading for the full press release.
Quickoffice, Inc., the leading global provider of mobile office productivity solutions, today released its Quickoffice Connect™ Mobile Suite for iPad®. The application enables robust viewing, editing and creation of Microsoft™ Office Word and Excel files and integrates with mobile cloud storage providers, such as Apple’s MobileMe, Google Docs, Box.net and Dropbox. Quickoffice’s native iPad Office application was custom-built for the device to provide a distinct, intuitive user experience utilizing the iPad’s expanded display.
Quickoffice’s proprietary design, called SmartTouch™, is a series of user interface enhancements exclusive to the newly optimized iPad office product, which will also be available on other touch devices in the near future. Quickoffice has created a uniquely different design approach that offers a superior office experience, taking advantage of the large iPad display and delivering new features that include:
- Power edit mode – make edits across an entire document or spreadsheet with a multi-edit toolbox. Quickly format text, numbers, paragraphs, backgrounds and cells without opening and closing multiple menus.
- Single-screen viewing – an intuitive way to navigate horizontally and vertically through folders and files, and conveniently review file information within a single-screen view.
- Advanced touch controls – manage files with simple-to-use touch, tap and drag controls with an advanced connected file manager. Scroll in any direction and drag and drop to email, move, copy and delete files on the iPad or on supported remote storage accounts.
- Smooth page scrolling – single-touch navigation to preview page thumbnails and jump to any page in any size document.
“As a company, we have made a fundamental commitment and investment to our iPad app to deliver a new and innovative Office experience to match the elegant design of the iPad,” said Alan Masarek, CEO at Quickoffice. “We are excited to be launching a robust, customized iPad application that meets consumers’ Office needs through an exciting and interactive app that is responsive to their touch. This new product launch is strategically very important for the company, as we look to expand into the high-growth tablet and netbook market.”
According to Apple, the company has sold over 2 million iPads since its launch almost two months ago on April 3. Now available worldwide in nine countries with nine more to start selling the device in July, the market and number of users continues to grow. Targeting this growing user base, Quickoffice Connect Mobile Suite for the iPad also allows users to retrieve information, view, edit and save back to their preferred storage location without leaving the application. It’s available for an introductory price of $9.99 in the Business category in Apple’s iTunes® App Store.
