Quick Look: CloudFiles, a Dropbox Client, for Windows Mobile
Even though CloudFiles is still in beta form, at a recently release 0.8, it is the most exciting program to be installed on my Touch Pro in quite some time. Part of this is probably due to my recent discovery and infatuation with the cloud service Dropbox, part though due to the overall quality experience with the program.
Launching the program presents you with a full screen cloud graphic, symbolizing the notion of “cloud” or remote server storage based computing. At the bottom of the screen, login options as well as the choice to create a new Dropbox account if new to the service. I particularly like the ability to cache the username and password for an automatic login.
After login completes, folders and files are displayed via a simple but elegant touch oriented user interface. Folders can be navigated with ease, refreshing the content based on recent changes made to the files in your Dropbox account. A message across the bottom of the screen alerts the user to what is happening.
Folders with image files display thumbnail icons beside the filenames, as shown below. Upload and download options abound, with the ability to create new directories as well as upload and download files, as do multiple options to configure your CloudFiles experience.
While in public beta, CloudFiles is performing well on my Touch Pro. When available for sale, I’ll be one of the first in line.
