I was really excited last week as MIX10 was approaching. Now it seems that every day only makes me sadder. While I still hold a lot of optimism for what is down the road with the Windows Phone, I am no longer holding my breath until the first devices are released. I know that some of you still are so I just wanted to give you a heads up that there will not (at first anyways) be any copy and pasting going on.
To all of you that just can’t get enough eye candy from Windows Phone, (neither can I no matter what I say) Here is the WPS7 Metro coffee table design book. So as for me I am still torn between this upgrade or another. Are you willing to look past this small technicality? Or are all the small technicalities starting to add up?

Question of the Day: Do You Ever Unplug?
… that is, as in unplugging from technology. If so, at what time of the day do you unplug? My wife has many times proposed a digital bed time for me, as she read an article stating that a person should not use technology after 9 pm. Me, I plug in at 4 am when I get up to do consulting work and am connected to either a laptop or my Touch Pro through out the entire day. I work on my laptop in the evenings, surfing various sites, queueing items for JAMM and answering emails.
What do you think? Is an imposed digital bed time a good idea? Hit the comments below and let us know!

If you read pdf files on your iPhone, then you have probably heard of GoodReader already. It is one of my favorite options for pdf documents. It just does a fantastic job of formatting the documents to fit the iPhone screen, which not a lot of apps can do well. One of the problems I have had, however, was moving my documents into the app from my computer. That trouble is over now, though, as GoodReader (which is still only 99 cents) has now added DropBox support, making it easy to grab any documents and review them quickly and easily on your iPhone or iPod Touch. Read on for the full announcement.
Good.iWare has released a new version of its GoodReader file viewer for iPhone that includes “server-style” support for DropBox. Now users can upload files and even entire directories to Dropbox from GoodReader, and are also able to delete files just like they could with a normal file server, such as FTP.
The most recent version of GoodReader offered a web-browser connection to DropBox, which enabled users to browse DropBox accounts and download files into GoodReader, but did not enable users to reverse that process and upload files from GoodReader to DropBox.
GoodReader is known as the top document reader for viewing and navigating large PDF documents on an iPhone. Besides its text search capability, other key GoodReader features are active hyperlinks, which enable users to more easily navigate within the document or launch a linked document or website, and PDF Reflow, with which text is extracted from a PDF page (stripping out pictures) and displayed as a simple TXT file in its own viewing pane. These features make GoodReader an even better choice for those who browse large technical documents.
GoodReader is available from the iTunes App Store for 99 cents.

Apparently that is still up in the air since AT&T slaughtered the Motorola Backflip… and if you think new-cell-phones.org is opinionated, check out this post over at xda-developers. Apparently AT&T has changed the default search provider from the obvious Google choice to Yahoo. Yahoo on a Google device? There also is no chance of using Google Maps as it has been overridden, too. You can pay for AT&T Navigator, though. There is also no voice search and you can’t install applications from non trusted sources, meaning your SD card or those downloaded from the web and from your WIFI at home.
AT&T is also apparently the same carrier that won’t allow you to tell your Java apps NOT to ask for permission more than once. Now I finally know who to blame for my wife’s Blackberry always needing permissions to do everything over and over again. Luckily you can always choose to unlock it, for a fee usually. I have always been a little skeptical of locked devices so I tend to buy unlocked ones which is easier on a GSM carrier due to just swapping SIM cards.
So what irks you the most about carriers here in the US? Is AT&T within their rights or are they butchering Android?
What do you like about them that you are willing to put up with this sort of stuff for? Drop a comment and let us know your thoughts.
