The HD2 and I

image

I was all excited to get the HD2. I was at the TMo store on the 24th and apparently was lucky enough to get one. I am upgrading from a Treo 680. The HD2 is all that they say it is EXCEPT for the keyboard(s). I love the size of the screen as it’s great for everything you do on it. However, the keyboard is waaaay too sensitive and it’s too easy to make a mistake, especially when you have to enter a password – like on a couple of applications I have (mostly because they are portrait only). I am used to the Treo’s keyboard – even with my “big” fingers – it works.

For me the HD2 keyboard is an exercise in frustration, to the point I am considering returning it! As the girl at TMo said: I have 14 days (from the 24th) to return it. And THAT would not be a good day… but I primarily use my phone for business and when I need to enter some data I don’t have the time or patience to fuss with a touchy keyboard. I might take another look at the Touch Pro2! I wish I could get my hands on the N900 too.

At this point, for me, this is the Achilles’ hill of the HD2… what’s your experience?

I come from a front facing keyboard devie (Treo 650 and Centro) and I am now on a Pro2, with the side slide out keyboard.

The keyboard I have now is comfortable, but not as useful and quick as the one I was using before. After this change I now undesrtand that a front facing keybord is most udeful for me, as I need to enter few lines every time and the software and side solutions are inaccurate and unnatural, respectively.

With this in mind and having chosen WM, I think now I’d buy a HTC HD2, just because the slide side keyboard of the Pro2 ends to be not the big deal I was hoping for.

Today, looking for a front facing keyboard device I would like to give BB 9700 a chance, or wait for somethng like this (seemingly a fake):
