Rumors: Palm Pre, Palm Pixi…and Palm Elan (???) Coming Soon to AT&T

AT&T, formerly Cingular

I know a lot of people who have told me they would gladly switch to a WebOS based device if only it would come to a GSM network like AT&T.  Well, folks, it may be just about time to put your money where your mouth is.  Rumors abound that by the end of April, both the Palm Pre and Palm Pixi will be heading to AT&T, in all their GSM glory.  That is, of course, really bad news for Sprint, which has already been feeling the hurt from Verizon’s own version of the WebOS based phones.

But wait…there’s more.  Apparently, shortly after these phones are released on AT&T’s network, they will also be bringing a third, as yet unseen WebOS based device to AT&T.  All that is known about this new device is that it is rumored to be called the Elan.  The Palm Elan will, of course, be a webOS based device.  Rumors abound about what this new Elan could be.  Some of you may recall that Elan was the name of the company which sued Apple over its multitouch patents last year.  Could that name hold a hint about what this new phone will have to offer?  Or is this all just a rouse.  What do you all think?  Is there a mystery third webOS based phone coming to AT&T this summer?  What would you like to see in this phone that Palm has not already shown you in the Palm pre or Palm Pixi?  What would your ideal WebOS based device look like?
