Apple Files Patent Suit Against HTC for Using a Touch Screen?

Alright, I get it that Apple is mad because they created something that works well.  I also get that there is just not enough creativity in the mobile realm these days. (I know, I know, why don’t I come up with something new right, I wish I would too.)  However I believe HTC is doing what is best for the people, in that it hasn’t changed the way it sets up it’s devices so a site like xda-developers is able to mod and hack (yea I said hack, look here for difference between hackers and crackers) what he rightfully owns.  However it’s up to the likes of Microsoft, Apple, Android, Blackberry, and Symbian to monitor these sites to understand what the people want.  As I see it none of them do, and again the only reason it’s possible with HTC is because they provide the ability to dump and create roms, instead of  the OS provider.

Maybe I have gotten a little off track but the point is to listen to the people and understand that some technologies are the basics for the next generation of devices.  Move on Apple; how many more times do you think you can play off the “i” industry? (iPod, iPhone, iPad… I hope you come up with something new soon other than a faster phone with a camera for a $300 upgrade). Yea and Microsoft is about five years too late for the Windows 7 phone but they aren’t suing anyone because they dropped the ball.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate Apple.  I actually think their devices are cute and fun, and what they have created with the “i” paradigm is quite impressive.  I just wonder how long it will last.  I also think this is a tad ridiculous because seriously, we can’t have a touch screen without paying Apple for the rights….please.
