QOTD: What’s One To Do When The Technology You’re in Love With is Outdated?

Question of the Day:  What’s One To Do When The Technology You’re in Love With is Outdated?

Today’s question is inspired by fellow JAMM’er Heather.  We were discussing phone selection when she starting listing the merits of her nearly two year old but very much loved Palm Centro.  Long story short, she knows that the Palm OS and the Centro model may be categorized as outdated by some, but she loves it just the same.

So what is one to do when the technology they love and rely on becomes outdated in the eyes of others?  I say stay true to your love until you choose.  Resist the techno-geek peer pressure to move on to something bigger and better.  Trust me, I’ve done that a few times, and it was a sad experience to at least some degree each time.

What do you think – keep on using your device or give into the lust that enters one’s eye when a shiny new phone enters the room?  Share your thoughts on this with your fellow JAMM’er Heather by hitting the comments below!

I released this effects a lot of my tech choices in the last few years. I loved XP, and wanted nothing to do with Vista. At least now I have Win7. Plus, at work where there is no choice, I’ve been upgraded to the latest and greatest MS Office. What can I say, I liked the old layout. Its like having your favorite store re-organized, and you can no longer find anything.
