QOTD: How Many Programs are Installed on Your Primary Device?

Question of the Day

Question of the Day:  How many programs are installed on your primary device?

After putting it off for quite some time, I finally bit, hard resetting my Touch Pro.  Since acquiring it last October, several different programs and tweaks have been installed and uninstalled.  Many programs providing duplicate functionality were also installed, perhaps leading to some of my frustrations.  It was time for a clean start, time to hard reset.  After completing a full backup using Resco Backup Pro, and wiping the contents of the internal storage, the process of reinstalling applications began.  The process started the initial configuration and settings adjustments, and a restore point backup.  If a hard reset was in the future, at least the phone could be restored to a previous state saving some configuration time.  On went the first application, after Resco Backup Pro, obviously:  SKTracker.  Then Resco Explorer 2010.  Next SPB Pocket Plus, SKTools, and on.  The list started growing.  In between each application or two, a comparison snapshot was generated using SKTracker and a restore point made using Resco Backup Pro.

Several days later, I’m still in the process of installing applications and generating restore points.  I’ve installed several applications and have a great deal more to go, nearing the point were I can finally start reinstalling games.  Do I use most of these applications?  Actually, yes, at various times.  Others are like friends that I don’t to exclude.  In the process of reinstalling though, several one time friends have been weeded out in the attempts to maximize performance and storage space.

How many have I reinstalled?  About 40-45.  How many more?  About 50.  Most of these are games.  How about you?  How many programs are installed on your device?  Hit the comments and let us know.

A Moment for a New Desktop Program: Nuance PDF Reader

Nuance PDF Reader

While the following isn’t directly intended for handheld users or mobile technology, it looks just a little too good not to pass along.  Nuance, authors of Dragon NaturallySpeaking, has recently introduced Nuance PDF Reader.  Nuance PDF Reader is a free program that looks to extend the functionality of what most common free applications in this market offer.  Some of the features that the free offering include are the ability to annotate PDF files, the ability to fill in and save forms, and the ability to convert existing PDF documents to Word, Excel or RTF formats.

These features, if nothing else, make the program worth checking out.  After all, who doesn’t work with PDF files and who doesn’t like free?!
Nuance PDF Reader is compatible with Windows desktop operating systems.  You can download the free application and learn more about it here:
