So, You Want To Be An iPhone Developer…

image

I have a number of friends who develop games and apps for mobile devices, including the iPhone.  And if there is one thing many of them agree on, it is that there is a lot of hard work that goes on behind the scenes.  Hours and days can be spent brainstorming and recording ideas and features for new apps or updates.  Not to mention the time spent coding and testing before that new 99 cent game can hit the iTunes App Store.  But what if you could get there without all of the hard work?  What if you could become and iPhone developer today, with a ready-made library of games and apps, not to mentioned over 30,000 apps sold before you even get started.

Well, that is exactly what one developer is ready to offer you.  JBMJBM, LLC has been placed on eBay, and the winning bidder will receive all of the source code for its 87 iPhone apps and games, as well as exclusive rights to sell the titles.  No developmental experience necessary. Personally, this seems like a poor way to sell a business, a transaction which can be filled with complexity (is the JBMJBM, LLC name included in the sale?)  But if you are an aspiring developer…with no actual knowledge of mobile app coding or development then maybe this opportunity would appeal to you.  Bidding starts at $100,000, and you had better hurry if you are interested, because there are only a few days left on the auction.  More information on the sale is here, or you can jump straight to the eBay auction.  And if you are the winning bidder and new owner of JBMJBM’s titles, drop us a line.  We’ll pitch in a few reviews of your new apps.

Windows 7 Setup Part 3: The Right Tool for the Right Job – Getting the most Bang for Your Upgrade Buck

This is part 3 of a multipart series on setting up Windows 7 on YOUR computer.   You can see parts here at Just Another Mobile Monday and at iTechGear.org.

Now that you’ve determined that Windows 7 is right for you, and you’ve figured out what version of Windows 7 you’re going to install, we need to take a serious look at your existing hardware.  I’m going to assume that you’ve already taken a look at the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor and have an upgrade report that you are referring to while we go through this.  If you haven’t run the Upgrade Advisor on your existing PC, then you need to do so.

Ultimately, we’re going to divide your computer’s components up into 3 camps – The stuff that’s OK (and doesn’t need to be upgraded), the stuff that SHOULD be upgraded, and the stuff that you’d LIKE to upgrade.  For many this may be a financial decision, but for those with a bit of flexibility in their budgets, your computing experience just gets better with a little more horse power.  Let’s dive in and take a look…

Security Vulnerabilities Hit Apple

RickRollJailBreak

As we continue to live in this computer age, millions of lines of code are written.  And with the millions of lines of code come vulnerabilities from the left, the right, and all around.  So far, in the news this week, jail broken iPhones have encountered their first worm.  Hailing from Austrailia, this worm will change your wallpaper background to a photo of Rick Astley.  The current fix can be found on Sophos which details the fix.  For you law abiding citizens who haven’t jail broken your iPhone – keeping legal does have its security advantages.

Now as if Apple wasn’t in the news enough, ZDNet reports that Apple has released a large patch that covers 58 security vulnerabilities.  Most of these vulnerabilities will allow your little Mac to become a complete zombie by allowing a remote attacker to gain total control of the system.  As such, the severity of this patch has been deemed “extremely critical”.  So before you go on surfing your merry way, remember to check for your Apple updates today.
