Update: SBSH GoNews Touch 1.2

Although I no longer use Windows Mobile on a regular basis, I’m still a big fan of SBSH and their great line of software products for that platform. I have previously used GoNews Touch and would expect that this upgrade would be a worthy (and, of course, FREE!) download for current users. The full press release is available here and below is a list of the major highlights of this new version. Enjoy!
- Full Screen Reading – Full screen articles display for maximum reading view
- Improved Touch Tray Bar – Now providing visual feedback when pressing one of the tray buttons
- Online Feed Searching – Search and add new feeds directly within GoNews
- Faster than Ever – Re-designed engine for faster performances
- Popup Touch Menus – Special touch menus for easier finger-friendly navigation
- Multi Language Support – English, German, French, Portuguese, Italian, Russian and Spanish
- Updating Improvements – Read articles while updating content

The new version is excellent!! I have been using the program since 1.0 and the improvements with 1.2 are huge. The three biggest for me are the full screen viewing (especially since I use the Treo Pro which doesn’t have the biggest screen), improvements in the scrolling and quickness of the app, and finally the download speed is MUCH better. If you already own GNT, definitelyoil need to upgrade ASAP.

I have to say I am disappointed. Yeah! It’s purdy but it still doesn’t autodownload and aggregate podcasts, I can’t group feeds by category on the main page and I cannot stop it from marking an article as “read” and dropping it to the bottom of the stack automatically.
So beauty and templates to download full articles aside, it is not up to the technical snuff of Beyond Pod or YoMo Media – which I use now because it works on WVGA, unlike Beyond Pod.
And it still takes FOREVER to update.
