Handango Opens Awards to Public Voting for First Time Ever

Handango, a major software distribution site for almost every major handheld platform, has a history of assigning awards to top programs spanning several different categories. Over the years the Handango Champion Awards have become quite coveted by developers, lending credibility to programs. This year Handango has opted to add a new element to their voting: they are inviting you to participate. This is a great way to show support for your favorite application. Check out the details here.

This just shows how much Handango must be hurting with what was its biggest moneymaker (and community backer) , Windows Mobile.Especially now that PPC/Smartphone Mag is gone (with their awards). Before they were able to hand-pick MVPs from the field who signed up for judging. Many of those MVP people have moved on to different pastures and now don’t have the time to test a bunch of applications and review them. So now Handango is asking for help from anywhere to do the work for them. This is the changing of the guard, so to speak. Meh, jetlag… sorry if that seems incoherent
