Get SMS Sent to Email!

I’ve been a long time user of GrandCentral and after Google bought them out, I was a bit scared on what would become of the GrandCentral service. Google has not only maintained what GrandCentral already does with free calling to the U.S.A. and Canada as well as ringing multiple phones under one phone number, but it also added voicemail transcription and now SMS to email!
To enable this feature, just log into your Google Voice Account. And hit the "Settings" link on the upper right corner near where your phone number is displayed. This is the resulting screen:

Now just check the box "Forward SMS messages to my email" and you are set to go!
What else can you do with it? Try this for size – You are in Dallas, but your family is in Houston. Get a Houston number and let your family get a Dallas number. Now, all calls between you and your family in Houston become just a local call anytime on any phone in those two cities. Just remember, your Google number is for life – to change it would require a modest fee of $10 (currently). Have fun and enjoy the SMS to email!
Google Voice is still invitation only. Sign up for one today and get the number of your choice!
