ASUS Dual Screen eReader – A Kindle Killer???

ASUS Dual Screen eReader

The latest fad in electronics is e-readers.  It seems like every company wants a piece of the Kindle pie.  However, ASUS has a new spin on the reader, and I love their idea, dual touchscreens.  Their plan is to let you read a book like a book is intended to be read, or use the other screen to type or surf the web.  ASUS wants to develop more than just an e-reader.  There is also a good chance that the screens could be in color, the first e-reader in that department.  ASUS is planning for the Eee Reader to debut around the end of the year, and I am guessing they want it out for the holiday shopping season.  The pricing is also very attractive, $163 for the low end reader.  They want their reader to be the cheapest one on the market.  There is also room for a higher end model as well, with such bonuses as 3G, a web browser, and expandable storage.  I, for one, can’t wait to see it!!!  Every e-reader I have seen so far is just a version of the Kindle, and this is thinking a bit outside the box.  ASUS feel free to send one of these my way.

Wow. Without seeing specs, it already looks really cool. I wonder how thick and heavy it will be? How much memory and battery? such a cool picture…so many questions. :)

Battery is definitely an issue. I can see this device almost being like a tablet netbook. Lots of options.
