Hey, the switch to aluminum worked for the MacBook 13″, so why not for a laptop stand? The LaTosta that I reviewed before was made of 2 oz. of stainless steel and capped with rubber tips. It was designed to fit on almost any laptop to provide a more comfortable viewing and typing angle, as well as improve laptop cooling ever so slightly. I was recently shipped another set to look at, and I have to say I like this one a lot more. The new Latostas (can I do that? can I just make up my own plurals?) are coloured and weigh only 0.72 oz thanks to their aluminum build. They’re so light you won’t even notice them in your gear bag until you need them. The website describes them as feather-weight, and it’s true.

All in all, I’d say you can probably stick to your LaTosta if you already own one, but this new lightweight version is absolutely worth a look if you’re searching for a very minimal laptop stand. The aluminum version’s warranty (two years) doesn’t last as long as long as the stainless steel’s (five years), but as long as you don’t jump on your laptop, both version should last a long while.
